Pondi empowers constituents with five days ICT training, speaks on Tuomo Aquaculture school

The member representing Burutu Federal constituency, house of representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi as part of his constituency project in 2019 has flagged off Information and Communication Technology Training programme for members of Burutu Federal Constituency, Delta State.

The federal lawmaker flagged off the five days ICT development training programme for Burutu federal constituency earlier today at the mandatory hall, Joemarine Institutes of Nautical Studies and research, DDPA, Ugborikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The live transforming training which is targeted at youth development in ICT draws participants across Burutu Federal Constituency on how mostly the youths can be self employed after going through the rigours of the training.

In his speech during the flag off ceremony at the mandatory hall, Joemarine Institutes of Nautical Studies and research, Hon. Pondi, facilitator of the programme charged participants to take advantage of the exercise, stressing that training people to be self employed remains one of the best form of human capital development.

He noted that the people of Burutu Federal Constituency have voted for him twice to represent them in the green chamber, stressing that he will continue to fashion out ways to ensure that whatever he can do to spread the dividends of democracy to his people within his ambit is done properly.

Speaking further, Hon. Pondi, often described as one of the most performed house of representatives in the history of the local government Area stated that bill for the establishment of Aquaculture School in Tuomo, Burutu Local Government Area is on top gear in the house.

He noted that the school when it must have undergone all necessary legislative scrunity and the final ascent by the president of the federation will create more jobs for Nigerians and the people of Burutu Federal constituency will be the ultimate beneficiaries when it comes to life.

In his words: “Empowerment are of different categories, giving money is also one, but the best form of empowerment is self development that is human capital development, this is exactly what we are doing here.

“You should relax yourself and take advantage of it, if I have any opportunity to give back to you, I will continue to do that like what I am doing. Bill to establish Aquaculture School is underway and will be sited at Tuomo, take advantage of the programme and ensure that you put to use what you must have learnt. You have voted for me twice and I am not taking it for granted.”

The federal lawmaker in an interview shortly after the flag off ceremony lamented that Burutu Local Government remains one of the biggest and richest local government in Nigeria, but regretted that the level of development is nothing to write home about.

He regretted that there is no federal presence in the entire local government which according to him is shameful and unacceptable, asserting that this is happening against the fact that the local government is hosting several critical oil facilities belonging to the federal government of Nigeria.

Speaking on the choice of Tuomo for the proposed school, Pondi said apart from the vast expanse of land in the community, there is already an existing skill acquisition center built by the federal government of Nigeria, maintaining that though the project is yet to be completed but insisted that when the school kicks off, the government will do little in putting it to use.

Hon. Pondi assured the people of Burutu Federal Constituency that beyond the ICT development training for Burutu federal constituency and the bill seeking for the establishment of the school of Aquaculture to be sited in Tuomo noted that the people should expect more from him.

Consultant for Dagaman Global Investment Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ayo Ifioko on behalf of the the firm told participants that a lot has been put in place in order to package the programme for members of the constituency, adding that participants should take the programme serious as it will be beneficial to them.

Mr. Ifioko while addressing the participants explained that the predominantly youth participants will be exposed to the rudiments of Networking, Web design, Blogging, Digital marketing as well as the operationalization of social media platforms for self reliance.
He hinted participants that the stated areas above remains one of the most fast selling market in the world at the moment, maintaining that late coming of participants will not be tolerated.
On his part, Delta State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, on behalf of the supervisory agency reiterated the commitment of the federal government in ensuring that Nigerians are self employed.
“The federal government of Nigeria, particularly with President Buhari sees the biggest problem confronting Nigeria as unemployment, this they want to address through constituency projects which is human capital development.
“This is a training session with which you can impact on yourselves positively so that you can be self employed.
“In five days, you will actually learn a lot, take advantage of this programme and don’t disappoint the Hon. Member.” Mr. Olu Tony stated.
Participants heap praises on Pondi
Speaking on behalf of other participants during the programme, Comr. Samuel Ebolo and priest Ellington Bakumor all heaped praises on the member representing Burutu Federal constituency, House of Representatives, facilitator of the training exercise, noting that Burutu is actually feeling the positive representation of Pondi.
The duo had all in their separate messages pledged to take advantage of the programme, asserting that at the end of the programme, the society in general will know that they have gotten new knowledge.
Also on the entourage of Hon. Pondi include Hon. Adidi Preboye; Hon. Epigha Ballad, legislative aide to Pondi; Hon. Tonkiri Apu, also a legislative aide to Pondi; Mr. Olu Tony, state coordinator of national directorate of employment; Mr. Ejembe Augustine.
Others present during the occasion include Comr. Emmanuel Akpule, Comr. Victor Isereke, Prince Tony Akemeotubo, Comr. Amu Itoto among others too numerous to mention.
It would be recalled that Hon. Pondi had just recently influenced the first ever Jamb Center in Delta Ijaw riverine communities to Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of the State.
What this potends is that people from riverine communities in Delta State can now write JAMB examination from the comfort of their domain without traveling to Warri and other urban settlements before writing it.
