A youth leader in Delta State, Amb. Comr. Binebai Yerin Princewill has called on the state Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency reveal the identities and location of the coronavirus infected patients in the state.

Amb. Binebai noted that not revealing the identities of the coronavirus infected persons could be dangerous to Deltans as they are kept in the dark by the state Government and concerned authorities.

The youth leader made the observation earlier today via a statement issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

Princewill stated that it is important for Deltans to know the persons that have contracted the disease and where they were living, this according to the activist will make residents to be more careful.

The rights activist wondered on why such important matter will be kept in secret when even governors and highly placed individuals across the country and the World at large have been contracting it and getting well after treatment.

However, while appreciating the efforts of the government so far in curtailing the spread of the virus and the stay at home lockdown in the state, Binebai insisted that the true situation of things must not be hidden to Deltans as the disease is no longer a secret one as it is a global pandemic.

He reiterated that contracting the disease is not a death sentence but asserted that people of the state should be aware of these issues, adding that if the identities of the people, who they are, what they do, their family and where they reside could be released, he stressed that it will help Deltans as anyone who must have come in contact with such persons will begin to observe he or herself for proper medical attention.

Princewill expressed sadness over the fact that some Deltans still believes coronavirus is not real, maintaining that revealing such cases will change the perception of those having such notion.

“Since Deltans are yet to know any victim, there are debates that the said cases are audio and a ploy to misle Deltans.” Yerin asserted.

Meanwhile, independent reports from journalists have faintly revealed one case in Warri that allegedly happens to be the second case in the state who had also died but the Government of the state and the concerned authorities are yet to reveal the identities of anyone in the state which is worrisome to Deltans.

Nevertheless, Amb. Yerin had called on Deltans, particularly residents of Warri that coronavirus is real and the need to adhere to the safety measures provided by medical practitioners and obeying the orders of government remains the best thing to do.
