Following the painful demise of Chief T. M Binebai (JP) and in what appeared to be a combined condolence visit by the  member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Hon. Julius Pondi and a powerful envoy from High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, the generalissimo of the Niger Delta struggle for emancipation paid a condolence visit to the Binebai family at his Ughoton residence in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State Yesterday. 

Hon. Julius Pondi in his speech during the condolence visit stated that as the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the house of representatives, he was touched to have received news of Chief T. M Binebai’s death, adding that while he was alive, he stood to defend his people and was always on the side of justice. 

Pondi asserted that Chief Binebai had produced children that are seriously adding value to the society, stressing that on behalf of the entire people of Burutu Federal Constituency, he has come to condole with the family. 

On the other hand, high Chief Kestin Pondi, the Chief Mobilizer of Gbaramatu Kingdom who led Tompolo’s delegation had noted that while Chief T. M Binebai died at a ripe age of 94, they recognized the intellectual contributions of Prof. Benedict Binebai, a son of Chief T. M Binebai in theorizing the Ijaw tradition intellectually and otherwise. 

However, the duo of Hon. Julius Pondi and High Chief Kestin Pondi had requested  that the they should be informed whenever the family has concluded plans to perform the final burial rites of Chief T M. Binebai, stressing that they would assist in ensuring that Chief T. M is given a befitting burial. 

Responding on behalf of the family, Sir Frederick Christmas had appreciated the visit of Hon. Julius Pondi, High Chief Kestin Pondi, Sir Godfrey Pondi and others, stressing that the family is pleased to have received them. 

The family had particularly recalled the many times that Hon. Julius Pondi and Tompolo had showed concern for the Binebai family, adding that as a family, they will not joke with the fine relationship existing among them.

High point of the visit was  signing of the condolence register by Hon. Julius Pondi.
