Rumoured End Of PAP: Gelegele Youths Vow To Shutdown Benin Airport, Make Demands
Youths of Gelegele Community in Olodiama Kingdom, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State have threatened to shutdown Benin Airport, NDDC Office if the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP ) Training Center in Gelegele is not addressed.
The youths had via a statement jointly signed by the trio of Omaghomi Olu-Derimon
Gelegele Youth President, Ebiye Milton, Gelegele Youth Vice President and Eyemi Clement, Gelegele Youth Secretary, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today vowed to take action if the training center in Gelegele is not addressed.The statement reads in full below:
We will shut down Benin Airport, NDDC Office if the PAP Training Center in Gelegele is not addressed.
It’s been rumored that the National Security Adviser to the President is making frantic moves to wind up the program, though it seems like a joke of the year. It’s worthy to note that there are several uncompleted projects scattered around the Niger Delta, which the Gelegele training center is also inclusive.
The contract which commenced about 3 years ago is nothing to go by as most of the buildings are around foundation and DPC level after a whopping amount was voted into the said projects. It’s pitiable that the only major Federal Government project in Gelegele Community that has been contributing to the economy of the country for over forty years is in state of reckless abandonment knowing fully well that if that training center comes on stream, the entire riverine communities and the state will benefit maximally.
We have suffered severally from the hazards of oil activities in our area and the only project that can bring succor to our people is no where near completion.
We make bold to say that if this training center is not addressed, we will be forced to do the needful but it’s our plea that this issue does not generate to that level.
Therefore we implore the Newly appointed PAP Coordinator and those in charge to quickly as a matter of urgency address the subject matter before it all snowball to something else.
