Sit At Home: Okowa To Deal With Group Trying To Enforce Order In Asaba

The government of Delta State has said it will go after anyone or group under the guise of any organization trying to  enforce sit at home in Asaba, the  capital of Delta State.

Secretary to the  state government, Mr.Patrick Uka disclosed this through a press statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen on Monday, a copy of which was obtain by the Liberator Newspaper worldwide.

The SSG noted that security agencies have been put on alert and are well prepared to confront anyone or group trying to cause breach of peace in the capital city.

He said “It has come to the notice of Delta State government that a certain group of persons are  trying to enforce the sit at home order in the state capital territory of Asaba and it’s environs.

“The government wishes to warn that any such group of persons under the guise of any organization that wants to disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed in Asaba and other neighboring towns will be dealt with accordingly.”

“Security agencies have been put on red alert and have been mandated to ensure that such threats by unscrupulous elements are promptly nip in the bud.”

“Residents of the state are assured of the state government commitment to ensuring continued peace and security of lives and properties and they should go about their lawful duties without fear.”

The sit at home order is been enforced in all states of the south East and parts of Rivers State since June 2021 when the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and subsequently charged to court for terrorism.

Last week, residents of Asaba woke up to find copies of letter littered in the Asaba metropolis purportedly signed by unknown gunmen asking residents to observe the sit at home order, although security agencies dismissed the threats and advised residents to go about their normal duty.

However,a week later on Monday 16 May 2022, it was observed that some shops owners in Asaba refused to open because of fear of the unknown.
