Supreme Court Judgement: Chief Douglas congratulates Diri, says politics is becoming interesting | The Liberator

A revered chief in Oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief T. M .O. Douglas, JP, has congratulated Sen. Douye Diri and his deputy for the latest Supreme Court judgement nullifying the victory of Chief David Lyon and his deputy for the Bayelsa State governorship election.

This was contained in a congratulatory message issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday, personally signed by Chief T. M. O. Douglas, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

The revered Chief had particularly appealed to Bayelsans to accept the judgement in good faith, stressing that Diri has what it takes to move the state to a greater height.

Meanwhile, the statement commended His Excellency, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson for fighting to the end, adding that the outcome of the judgement have vindicated Dickson.

Speaking further, Chief Douglas, had appreciated members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Bayelsa State that fought gallantly with Dickson, Diri and his deputy to ensure the landmark judgement at the supreme court.

Analysing political happenings around the country, Chief Douglas stated that politics is becoming more and more interesting in Nigeria, stressing that the latest judgment have rekindled the confidence of Nigerians and the hope that the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man.

It would be recalled that Senator Douye Diri until his emergence as candidate of the PDP governorship election in Bayelsa State is the Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly

In his words: “I am very happy for this development, this is not a time for political bickerings, Bayelsa has always being a PDP state and it will not be a bad idea if it continues in that trend, the latest judgment have balanced the political ratio in the country to an extent. “

He particularly appealed to Dickson, outgoing Governor of the state to forgive all those that fought against him during the process, stressing that everyone is needed in moving the state forward.

Douglas noted that he is hoping that one day and soon enough he will see Diri and Governor Dickson, stating that nothing has made him happier than this in recent times.
