As the familiarization tour of the Delta South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Exco led by Chief Julius Takeme continues, the need to build trust, and unity to strengthen the party’s structure has once again been brought to the fore.

This was the focus of discussions when Takeme and other exco members paid a courtesy visit to a Party Chieftain and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godday Orubebe in his county home, Ogbogbagbene in Burutu Local government Area of Delta State at the weekend.

Takeme who described the former Minister as a prominent and veritable National leader of the party from the senatorial district said that they were on a familiarization tour occasioned by change in leadership of the party at the zonal level and also to seek his fatherly advice on how to position the party on the part of greatness.

The Zonal party chair, called for unity of purpose among members, noting that only a united effort will move the party forward and reposition it to effectively deliver on its core mandate.

Chief Julius Takeme while commending Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for the ongoing Tuomo – Torugbene road project noted that, the breeding ground for Democracy is political parties and as such defending the party, PDP to maintaining it’s dominance in Delta South is sacrosanct.

He maintained that the PDP as a party has recorded tremendous success in many areas and that such success needs to be maintained to enable the party retain its dominance both at the zonal level and the state in general.

” There is one thing as success and another as to maintaining the success, with this common understanding and binding ideology, rocking the boat of the party is not the best option for critical stakeholders and leaders who from the scratch has built the party to prominence but to defend the party, the home of PDP with everything possible so as to ensure its dominance in the senatorial district”. He said. ”

In his remark, Orubebe thanked Takeme for his laudable initiative to reposition the party and urged him to remain steadfast in his quest for a more stronger PDP in the zone.

He expressed confidence on the leadership prowess of Chief Takeme, declared support for the party in it’s renewed programmes and approach to foster it’s dominance in the senatorial district and to give the needed advice as a father would to a son.
