Toxic Chemical: Delta State Government Distributes Relief Materials To Affected Communities – The Liberator

In a bid to ameliorate the suffering meted on the people of Ogulagha kingdom, Odimodi, Ofougbene, Forcados, Yeye and Burutu communities by the alleged deposition of chemicals at the coast of Ogulagha kingdom, the Delta state government has provided relief materials for the people through the ministry of Oil and Gas, Delta State.

The incident which occured about six weeks ago attracted protests from fishers and indigenes of the oil rich kingdom of Ogulagha and other communities.

The state commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba who distributed the materials yesterday at the Government Anex Warri which consist of rice, beans, seasoning, tin tomatoes, salt and other stuffs to the communities yesterday at the Government House Annex, Warri, stated that the gesture by the state Governor was to ensure that while the investigation to the actual cause of the death of aquatic life was being investigated, the people had a little to eat.

Prince Amgbaduba had few weeks back assured the people that he was going to convey their plight to the state Governor who he knows through the SMART agenda doesn’t compromise with the livelihood of his people.

Responding on behalf of the various communities, Chief Edward Prebor, Chairman of Odimodi community thanked Governor Okowa for the kind gesture and also appreciated the commissioner for always standing by the Oil bearing communities.

The state commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Mofe Pirah was represented by Godwin Omadoye, Director General of state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Mrs Gladys Puegeren, Directors and staff of the ministry, staffs of SEMA attended the ceremony.

The communities were represented by Chief William Igere (Ogulagha Kingdom), Chief Edward Prebor (Odimodi), Mr Pondy Stainless (Burutu), Ebi Ferebo (Forcados), Pastor Phillip Fianka (Yeye) and Kingsley Forcados (Ofougbene).
