The city of Warri, particularly the NPA axis was agog with crowd of people across Delta State as Amb. Chief Sheriff Mulade declares his interest to contest the Delta State 2023 Governorship. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.
In his declarative speech, the global peace advocate cum environmental activist had stated that he has all what it takes to Govern Delta State, stressing that with the support of all Deltans, a new, better and more prosperous Delta State will be achieved through him if given the chance.
However, the Niger Delta renowned philanthropist made the declaration yesterday at the Chief Tunde Smooth Playground, NPA in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State during the launching ceremony of Chief Kingsley Takemebo’s music album titled “SUPPORT IJAW 2023 FOR DELTA STATE GOVERNORSHIP”, a ceremony with which Mulade was the chief host.
The statement reads in full below:
FULL TEXT OF COMRADE (CHIEF) MULADE SHERIFF EXPRESSION OF INTEREST IN THE 2023 DELTA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: PRESENTED DURING SUPPORT IJAW FOR DELTA 2023 MUSICAL ALBUM LAUNCH AT WARRI. 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2021
All protocols duly observed
I, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, Ibe-sorimowei of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, welcome you all to this musical launch in support of Delta Ijaw as Governor of Delta State, come 2023.
I wish to particularly commend our very iconic musicians for their patriotism in making today a memorable one through their God-given talents. Chief Barrister S. Smooth (the Paddle of the Niger Delta); Mr. Kingsley Takemebo (the Young Shall Grow Band of Africa), and many others, I cannot thank you enough. Your efforts and commitments towards awakening the consciousness of Ijaw collective agenda for the 2023 Delta State Guber race, are indeed worthy of commendation.
I strongly believe that the masses who constitute the electorate are the deciding factors in every elective process. That is why am here to formally consult you and express my interest in the next Delta State Governorship race.
Permit me to state that the best approach for nominating a candidate for an elective position, is through the electorate. The governorship seat is not an exception to this. I believe that this is the time to change the narrative by adopting the Bottom-Top Approach, where the grassroots, that is the masses, are consulted in the process of nominating a credible, trustworthy and reliable candidate for an election, and not the other way round (Top-Down) where leaders of political parties and political godfathers select and impose unqualified candidates who are not connected to the masses, and may not have the capacity to redeem their campaign manifestos after election.
Therefore, as a strong advocate of peace and good governance, I believe this is the right time for us to adopt a better, clearer and an effective approach for nominating candidates for elective positions in the State.
It is high time we allowed a capable candidate to lead and govern Delta State. Let us say NO to political manipulations and imposition of candidates who are only seen during general elections.
I wish to encourage you to support a candidate of the peoples’ choice and mandate. This is the time for true governance; this is the time for grassroot inclusiveness in Delta State political process; and this is the time for us to nominate and elect a youthful, popular, experienced and an acceptable candidate of Ijaw extraction, who believes in the power and value of the masses, as the next Governor of Delta State.
I know that with the support of all Deltans, we can engender positive progress in Delta State; and to accomplish this, every citizen, 18 years and above, should obtain his or her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and vote for the right and capable candidate.
Let’s move forward. We have stood still for too long in Delta State.
My desire is to bring positive change to Delta State, and not to oppose any candidate or ethnic group. We are Deltans; we are one big family.
AS WE SET THE PACE FOR 2023 DELTA GUBER ELECTIONS, LET PEACE AND LOVE LEAD AMONG US.
