The Delta South Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief (Dr) Julius Takeme (JP) has charged leaders of the party at all levels in the senatorial district to be on ground to deliver the party during the Saturday local government elections in the state.
Chief Takeme made the call via a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers.
The Delta South PDP Chairman noted that no election should be taken for granted, stressing that leaders should all go to their wards and units to ensure that the party wins in all local governments and wards in the entire Delta South.
Speaking further, Dr. Julius Takeme had appreciated leaders of the party in the senatorial districts with the massive campaigns in their various wards, stressing that he feels so happy to see leaders working so hard to ensure that the party comes out victorious come March 6th 2021.
Takeme continued that while he is satisfied with the level of campaigns within the senatorial district, he enjoined leaders of the party to give it a finishing touch by mobilising to their various local governments and wards to deliver smoothly on Saturday March 6th 2021.
The PDP chieftain explained that Council elections should not be taken for granted due to the fact that it is not only the third tier of Government but plays a pivotal role in both presidential, Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives as well as state house of Assembly elections.
He continued that if the party did not get it right in the council elections, it will serve as a major cog on the wheel of progress in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, adding that local governments are the backbones of any state as far as Nigeria is concerned.
However, Chief Takeme expressed optimism that he is confident that the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) will conduct a free, fair, credible and transparent election, stressing that with the massive turnout of PDP supporters during the campaigns, PDP is sure of uninterrupted victory.
