The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone have blown hot over the kidnapping of an Ijaw girl identified as Ms. Happiness Nimughan, vice president of National Association of Ogulagha Clan Students (NAOCS).

The Ijaw Youths have called on security agencies in Delta, Ondo, Edo  States and across the federation to brace up for the security challenges in the country.

This was contained in a statement signed and circulated to newsmen in Warri earlier today by the duo of Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone and Comr. Lugard Izoukumor, information officer, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

IYC had particularly cautioned the Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ali Mohammed to swing into action by securing the urgent release of Happiness Nimughan who was allegedly kidnapped by strange elements along Agbor-Benin road on Thursday by 5pm.

Press Statement

Worsening Insecurity Situation in Delta State, IYC Cautions CP Ali Mohammed

…Says Security Agencies Should Rise up, calls for Unconditional Release of Ms. Nimughan Happiness

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone cautions Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Mohammed over the worsening insecurity situation in Delta State, and the kidnap of Ms Nimughan Happiness, Vice President of National Association of Ogulagha Clan Students. Ms. Nimughan was kidnapped about 5 pm, on  Thursday along Agbor Benin road.

Western Zone IYC’s caution is in response to the ineffectiveness by few security agencies in Delta State as attracting “imminent danger” by their lack of dedication to ensuring citizens of Delta State are given adequate police protections.

The Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone also condemns in strong terms, those that are in this despicable and mischievously dangerous act; in regards, to the worsening insecurity in Delta State to desist forthwith. It urges CP Ali Mohammed and other security agencies to rise up and ensure the unconditional release of Ms. Nimughan Happiness, so that she can be reunited back with her family members.

Thus, it is instructive to inform security agencies that, as security officials they are obliged at all times to ensure citizens are given full police protections, not to be flagrantly abused and create public panic or disarray.

We sympathize and implore the family members of Ms. Nimughan to be strong. IYC Western Zone will do everything humanly possible to ensure  Ms. Nimughan regains her freedom where she can once again walk peacefully and pursue her academic obligations.

Signed: for IYC Western Zone

Dr Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman and

Comrade Lugard Izoukumor, Information Officer
