Why we launch Gecostar Child/Women rights protection – Coordinator | The Liberator

A non- governmental organization, Gecostar child/women rights protection (GCWRP), National Coordinator, Cletus Opukeme has said, he has formally launched the NGO to join other voices who stand for the less privileged and vulnerable persons , especially children and women rights protection in the society.

The National Coordinator, Opukeme said Gecostar child/women rights protection is to fight for the less privileged, vulnerable and suffering children and women caused emotional agony, with nobody to come to their aid.

Opukeme, who is the publisher of Daily Watch, a vibrant and fearless online news stated in a press statement Friday,, ” I think as a journalist who is on the part of the less privileged, oppressed and vulnerable people in the society. A lot has been written about them in Nigeria as a reporter. I decided to come to the scene directly by advocating for fairness, justice and equity for the oppressed, especially children/ women in the society. We have reported about a lot on child/women abuse and molestation, ranging from rape, battery, child trafficking and generally school dropped out suffering children, perhaps as a result of poverty or parental negligence. Education is right of every children.

” As a journalist, there is a length we can push to protect these vulnerable people. Now, we want to go beyond reporting by playing gallantly by signing petitions and going to the court processes, spending resources in paying for legal services to guarantee the safety and protection of abused children/ women. I will use my international contacts by working with international NGOs to achieve a positive results for the vulnerable children/women” he noted.

Opukeme who is also a member of a global NGO, Amnesty International, said “Don’t forget, we will hold fraudulent governments, communities and institutions answer questions on financial accountability by giving stewardship to the public. Massive corruption in the country as affected lives of children and the future generation is in danger with extremely corrupt political and community leaders.

Continuing, ” We will organize carry out awareness campaign, sensitizing both the government, communities on the essence of providing a conducive environment for our children education and inclusion of women in governance as well as environmental protection for the well being of the children and children in the next generation” he said.
