Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC ) Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill has congratulated Chief (Hon) Ebikeme Clark on his appointment and subsequent inauguration as Commissioner, Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development, Delta State.

The Spokesman while congratulating Ebikeme Clark had also commended His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State for appointing Clark and creating a Directorate for the Riverine communities in Delta State for the first time ever since the existence of Delta State.

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill made the remark yesterday at his office in Warri while receiving the commissioner, Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development, Chief (Hon) Ebikeme Clarke who paid him a courtesy visit.

Princewill asserted that Oborevwori deserved to be commended for listening to the voice of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide by appointing two commissioners in Burutu Local Government Council which is the first time such is happening in Burutu, adding that for this to happen he has also created a new directorate for the Commissioner to carter for the development of riverine communities in Delta State.

It would be recalled that the IYC Worldwide has previously called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to create the Coastal Areas Development Agency like that of the Warri/Uvwie Environs Special Area Development Agency and Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Asaba to accommodate the developmental needs of the riverine communities in Delta State, in his response to that he has created the Directorate Riverine Infrastructural Development, Delta State to take care of the developmental needs of the riverine communities.

Council had previously tasked the Governor of Delta State to also appoint two commissioners in Burutu and other Ijaw Local Government Councils in Delta State, he has also harken to that too hence we have two commissioners in Burutu as well.

However, Binebai had called on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State to send the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development as an executive Bill to the Delta State House of Assembly to be fully backed by law, stressing that this will go a long way in ensuring that the Directorate has come to stay permanently like the Warri/Uvwie Environs Special Area Development Agency and the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Asaba.

Princewill particularly urged the Governor to inject enough funds into the directorate for it to truly live up to the expectations of the people of the riverine communities in Delta State.

Speaking further, Yerin maintained that the commissioner has a onerous task of working hard to bring proper development to the area, stating that the people have long yearn for development.

The Spokesman had expressed gratitude to Chief Ebikeme Clark, Delta State Commissioner, Directorate Riverine Infrastructural Development for visiting him at his office to discuss the way forward for the Ijaws in Delta State, describing him as a proud son of his father, stressing that he feels highly humbled and honoured to have received him at his office.

In his words “Chief (Hon) Ebikeme Clark, Commissioner, Directorate Riverine Infrastructural Development, Delta State is no doubt a tested and trusted leader, a square peg in a square hole “.

Nevertheless, Clark had appreciated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for appointing him as the pioneer commissioner, Directorate Riverine Infrastructural Development, Delta State, stressing that his mandate covers the developmental plans and needs of the riverine communities across Delta State.

Ebikeme particularly urged the Ijaw Youths to be patient with Governor Oborevwori, stressing that soon enough, a lot of projects will also be taking place in the riverine communities as the Governor is passionate about the development of the Delta riverine communities and her people.

The commissioner maintained that he will soon be embarking on a tour to the riverine communities for scoping of projects, adding that Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda will surely benefit the riverine communities and her people massively, stressing that the Governor is really doing a lot.

Speaking further, Ebikeme Clark promised to run an open door policy, stating that in the coming days, he will be meeting with different youth groups in line with his mandate areas.

High point of the meeting was the offering of prayers to the National Spokesman of Council, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill by Chief Ebikeme Clark to continue to speak for the liberation of the Ijaw people and Niger Deltans, adding that the entire Ijaw nation is proud of the Spokesman of Council as he is doing well.
