According to reports reaching the news desk of The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide, host communities to Sterling Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) in both Delta and Bayelsa States have protested in anger to shutdown the Company’s operating at Agge area.
This was made known to our reporter via a brief message signed by Mr. German Irou,
Comr. Matthew L. Wurus, Chief Fred Benabi, Chief Daniel Belle as well as Sir Erick Faka on behalf of Agge communities in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Some of the reasons given for the shutdown include lack of outstanding payment to the host communities, negligence, a master servant relationship and other burning issues.
The protest which was jointly carried out by Leaders of the said communities, chiefs, women and youths wings had all stormed the facility to shutdown the operation, stressing that the company has failed woefully in its cooperate social responsibilities with her hosts, adding that it will remain shutdown until SEEPCO meets the demands of the communities.
