BREAKING: Niger Delta Sea Disciples  Gives FG 21 Days Ultimatum To Replace Dokubo – The Liberator

By Binebai Princewill

There seem to be more trouble for the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP and Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Charles Dokubo as a new militant group springs up under the auspices Niger Delta Sea Disciples, NDSD.

The group had particularly warned that the continued stay of Prof. Dokubo as boss in the Amnesty office is already breeding bad blood among Niger Deltans, they had in a strong worded press statement given the federal government of Nigeria 21 days ultimatum to replace the current amnesty boss.

This was made known to newsmen in Yenagoa via a press statement signed by Spokesman of the group, self styled Gen. Solomon Akonkon, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

The Niger Delta Sea Disciples had warned that if President Mohammadu Buhari and other critical stakeholders in his administration fails to replace Dokubo within the 21 days ultimatum released by the group, then they would be left with no other option than to mobilise members across the country to protest to the National Assembly and block all major roads in the country.

Gen. Akonkon noted that Niger Deltans cannot continue to experience incompetence and unsatisfactory performance from Prof. Dokubo, stressing that the presidency must not aid him while those who fought for the Amnesty programme now receives the alleged painful strokes of abandonment and alienation.

NDSD had warned that the 784 Amnesty delegates protest at Kaiama in Bayelsa State that caused gridlock on road users led by Comr. Lucky Ighogho on Tuesday 4th of February 2020 will be a tip of the iceberg compared to what the group is planning.

The spokesman however, assured Niger Deltans and Nigerians that its planned protest against Dokubo would be peaceful, adding that enough is enough.

They said President Buhari and other critical stakeholders in his government must not continue to pay deaf ear to their alleged sensitive demands for the immediate replacement of Dokubo.

The self styled Gen. Solomon explained that the call for immediate replacement of Dokubo is for the general good of Nigerians, Niger Deltans and all those who think well of a better and descent society where leaders should leave behind lasting legacies.

The Sea Disciples insisted that Prof. Dokubo remains a bad luck to the Amnesty office, accusing him of not having any contact with genuine people who fought for the realization of the programme in 2009.

It would be recalled that on Tuesday, Amnesty beneficiaries headed by Comr. Lucky Ighogho had mobilized 784 Ex-agitators on the streets of Kaiama and other major roads in the East West Road protested against Dokubo for his removal and replacement as well as payment of their 23 months pending stipends.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that besides this, several notable groups in the Niger Delta region had severally called on the presidency to look into the Amnesty office with a view of effecting the replacement of Dokubo which the various groups have described as long overdue but the presidency had continued to remain adamant on the issue.

In their words: “We Niger Delta Sea Disciples, NDSD have exhausted all our patience, hence we have to come out to speak, enough is enough, we are giving the Federal Government of Nigeria 21 days ultimatum to replace Dokubo Or face massive protest from Niger Deltans

“We must not continue to celebrate this free reign of impunity, all critical stakeholders in the amnesty programme are complaining, lack of training of genuine Ex-agitators, questionable empowerment packages, shortchanging of supposed amnesty beneficiaries with the host of several debilitating tendencies prompted us to add our voice for his removal, he knows nothing about the Niger Delta struggle and how to run the office hence he should give way for others with better understanding to man the office.

“Our ultimatum starts from Today, Wednesday the 5th of February 2020, we will shock all those that may want to doubt our strength.

“Our targeted protest would be peaceful that of course is what we are assuring Nigerians, particularly Niger Deltans and our dear Ex-agitators, Some will match to the National Assembly, others will protest in the major roads across Niger Delta and other undisclosed intellectual steps will be taken “ Self styled Gen. Solomon Akonkon stated on behalf of the Niger Delta Sea Disciples.
