Member representing the people of Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of representatives, Hon. Julius Pondi who is seeking re-election for same position come 2023 yesterday takes his campaign to Elder Godsday Orubebe, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs at his country home, Ogbobagbene, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

While presenting his two term scorecard to the National leader who was a former chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Pondi had appreciated Elder Orubebe for the audience granted to him and his campaign team.

The young federal lawmaker asserted that Elder Godsday Orubebe is a force to reckon with politically and otherwise in Burutu Local Government, Delta State and Nigeria at large, stressing that he could not complete his campaign and visit to leaders in the Local Government ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary for House of representatives without seeking the blessing of Orubebe whom he described as a rare political figure in Nigeria.

Pondi while lauding Orubebe had stated that his projects as a lawmaker within the last years that he has been representing the constituency, he has as part of his oversight functions influenced projects to all 11 (eleven) wards constituting the Burutu Federal Constituency.

He continued that he has raised motions, sponsored bills, raised petitions to defend his constituents, empowering of constituents with several skill acquisition programmes as well as securing employment to several constituents across the Local Government.

However, obviously impressed by the legislative scorecard of Pondi, Elder Orubebe had described Hon. Julius Pondi as the most functional lawmaker in the whole of Ijaw land, from Akwa Ibom to Ondo state since 1999 till date.

Elder Orubebe particularly vowed to engage other leaders in the Local Government to ensure that Pondi continues with his productive representation come 2023, promising that he will possibly appeal  to those contesting with Pondi to see how they would withdraw for him (Pondi).

He particularly directed all his political followers in his ward and the Local Government at large to vote for Hon. Julius Pondi during the Burutu House of representatives Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary.

In his words: “ From Akwa Ibom to Ondo state, there is no lawmaker like Hon. Julius Pondi in the whole of Ijaw land. I have never seen his type. Representation is where you network in the House, how you speak and people listen to you. From Akwa Ibom to Ondo state, he is the most functional lawmaker from 1999 till date.

“I am going to make contact with other  leaders in Burutu, possibly the two aspirants that are contesting with you to appeal to them to see how they should withdraw for you. I will talk to Burutu leaders. This one is a directive to all those that are here and the entire local government that believes in me that this (Pondi) is the man they should all vote for. This one is a directive from their leader. What is worth doing is worth doing well.

“God made it possible in a way that so many leaders in the Local Government  have nominated one or  two people as delegates that I can speak with in all the wards across Burutu Local Government Area including ward chairmen.

“Paraventure PDP  presidency comes from the North, we are going to sponsore you to become speaker of the House of representatives.” Orubebe stated.

High point of the visit was how the former Minister prayed for Hon. Pondi to succeed.

He prayed: “The Lord almighty shall make you the favourite one in the heart of the leaders and delegates in Burutu Local Government, it is my prayer that the heaven shall be open unto you, from this day as a group, in the name of Jesus Christ, we declare you the winner. I decree and declare that nothing shall stand in your way. Amen”
