Coronavirus: Angele Distributes Cacovid Palliatives To 1,969 Families In Burutu Local Government

Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele on Monday supervised the distribution of Cacovid Palliatives to 1,969 families in Burutu Local Government Area. 

While hinting The Liberator Newspaper on the distribution of the food items, the Burutu Local Government Chairman stated that the palliatives were from the Coalition Against Covid-19, also known as CACOVID, a private sector-led organization in Nigeria established to assist the government in combating the Coronavirus disease in the country.

Hon. Angele who doubles as the Chairman of the Covid-19 Committee in Burutu Local Government Area revealed that the palliatives are being distributed to the eleven (11)  wards constituting Burutu Local Government. 

He said a total of 179 families have been targeted for each ward, stressing that the various ward committee chairmen of the Burutu Local Government Covid-19 Committee was on ground to receive their wards palliatives. 

Some of the food items distributed yesterday  include bags of Rice, cartons of Sugar, wall of Indomie noodles, bags of salts, bags of  Garri and cartons of Honey Well Spaghetti. 

When asked on the mechanisms put in place for the food items to get to the people at the grass root level, Angele said all those in the Committee and at the ward level are all men of integrity with clean track records, stressing that there is no doubt at all that the palliatives will get to families at the various wards. 

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that the food items where distributed at a food bank located at Shell Contractors Road, near Ogunu in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. 

The Burutu Local Government Council Chairman, popularly known as the Ability general had particularly appreciated the Coalition Against Covid -19, popularly known as CACOVID for their kind gesture to Burutu Local Government Area, adding that the food items will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the people. 

He had also prayed for more blessings to fall upon all those that are financing CACOVID, stating that the people of Burutu Local Government are eternally grateful. 

The Liberator Newspaper can report that the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) is a private sector-led organization in Nigeria established to assist the government in combating the Coronavirus disease in the country.

It was launched on March 26, 2020, following an announcement made by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

The purpose of the relief fund is to “support the Federal government of Nigeria in containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and equipments; and to accelerate efforts to provide tests and treatments.

Major companies, including Dangote Group, Access Bank and MTN have donated to the CACOVID Relief Fund, in addition to several private organizations and individuals.
