In what has been described as a record breaking history by the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, the Soloagha Ekpemupolo Jamb Center in Ogulagha community, traditional headquarters of the Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has for the first time ever successfully conducted a Mock Jamb Examination at the centre for prospective candidates.
The Liberator Newspaper can report that this development is historic to the people of Delta Ijaw riverine communities as it is the first and only Jamb Center that is sited in the riverine areas of the state.
In line with the desire and yearnings of people from riverine communities to have educational institutions sited close to them, yesterday Jamb mock examination was successfully conducted at the Soloagha Ekpemupolo Computer Based-test Center, Ogulagha in Burutu local government area of Delta state.
The Soloagha Ekpemupolo Jamb center is one of the educational facilities facilitated by Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Federal House of Representatives in partnership with the leadership of the Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council. The honourable member has provided the Jamb center in furtherance of his love for education and bringing the same to the doorsteps of his constituents.
Many candidates who sat for the exam and other critical stakeholders were full of praises for Hon. Pondi for making it possible for them to undertake the exam in their locality, a fit that was hitherto not possible.
Speaking to newsmen after the exam in the center, candidates and parents alike thanked Hon. Pondi for helping them to save cost and reduce travel time with the establishment of the center in Ogulagha town.
One of the candidates recalled how his elder siblings had travelled to Benin and other places in the past to write Jamb. He thanked Hon. Pondi for the Jamb center and appreciates his noble gesture in offering free Jamb form to all eligible students in the local government area yearly thereby supporting education which is the bedrock of society.
