A former Niger Delta warlord, Mr. Ebi Anthony Ikpelagha has claimed responsibility over the destruction of the twin explosion that rocked the Nigerian Gas Processing & Transportation Company, NGPTCL Gas line and OML 30 line operated by the Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, HEOSL in Batan community in Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State.

Giving his reasons, he had stated that Batan, despite playing host to NGPTCL, HEOSL, NNPC and housing the Diebiri Batan flow station in Warri South West  is left with nothing as the people allegedly wallow in abject poverty bereft of any meaningful development.

The former warlord had further hinted journalists that he acted  after issuing a seven days ultimatum to particularly NGPTCL and HEOSL to give him audience or face his action, according to him several efforts in trying to reach out to the said companies to be made a Chief Security Officer to provide local security services in safeguarding the facilities around the area had been made but it had continued to hit the brick wall.

Mr. Ikpelagha made the shocking revelation yesterday via letters made available to newsmen in Warri, copies of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

According to the letters personally signed by the former warlord, Mr. Ebi Anthony Ikpelagha who is the Managing Director, MD of ANTOTECH OIL & GAS LIMITED, a company that specializes in Transportation Services, Supply of Location and pipeline, Pollution Control, Civil Works, Oil Field Services, Dredging, Sand filling, Building and General Contractors started looking for the security job in 2016.

He had used a law firm J. J WAREYAI ESQ & ASSOCIATES precisely on the 11th of January 2016 at the instance of the community recommending Mr. Anthony Ebi Ikpelagha to the Management of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC as Local Chief Security Officer to the Diebiri Batan flow station.

Again, on the 9th of August 2017, Mr. Ebi had written with his company’s letter head to the group managing director, Nigeria National Petroleum Development Corporation, NNPC to be awarded a contract of clearing trees and bushes covering its pipelines in Warri, Ugbokodo, Kokologbene, Egwa, Odidi, Batan communities, all in Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State.

However, it would be recalled that the agitator wrote two letters again as a reminder to the Manager and Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Processing & Transportation Company, NGPTCL and Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, HEOSL to be given an audience for proper dialogue to be a Local  Chief Security Officer safeguarding the Diebiri Batan Flow Station and other facilities in the area.

Nevertheless, it was learnt that the letters written on the 11th of February 2019 to the companies comes with a seven days ultimatum to comply with him ( Mr. Ebi Anthony Ikpelagha) or face his action, vowing that he would not write them again on the subject matter but will prove his words with action if they fails to address his lingering request.

Meanwhile, on Monday the 18th of February 2019, the day the ultimatum elapses was the day the twin facilities was vandalized in Batan.
