Ijaw group congratulates Okowa/Otuaro, wants development in return
A group operating under the auspices of Ijaw Youth Political Alliance has congratulated His Excellencies, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Barr. (Deacon) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro on the sweeping victory during the Saturday’s polls in Delta.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday by the national leadership of the group, Comr. Ellington Bakumor, president, a copy of which was made available to The Liberator Newspaper.
It would be recalled that Comr. Bakumor had prior before the 2019 elections thrown his weight behind Okowa and other candidates of the PDP.
Series of endorsements where made and vigorous campaigns where also made, using his own hard earned resources on the media and other platforms.
Bakumor had also used the medium to demand from the governor and other relevant stakeholders to pay special attention for the development of the Ijaw riverine communities in the state.
In his words: “The Ijaw Youth Political Alliance Congratulates Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his deputy Kingsley Otuaro on their well deserved victory at the Just concluded polls , you will recall that months before the election the group led by Ellington Bakumor had thrown his weight behind The Okowa/Otuaro re-election reasons been that Okowa has been a friendly Governor to the Ijaw’s and also for the fact that his deputy is an Ijaw man
“We wish to thank All those who listened to us and worked tirelessly with us in ensuring that the Okowa/Otuaro re-election was a dream come through as we went from town to town , and also in preaching the good news .
“We also want to use this medium to ask the Governor to please pay more attention to the Riverine communities, many of our communities still need electricity, roads , schools , hospitals, and drinkable water , we believe that Okowa been a listening Governor that he is will do more for the Ijaw people and indeed for all deltans , thanks and God bless you.” Ellington Bakumor had stated.
