As the 2019 so much talked about edition of the Alaowei Prince Promise Lawuru Food Contest came to an end yesterday, Ijaw musical artist Comr. Coded Buku has defeated his opponent Comr. Fanti Covenant by smiling home with a cash of #100,000,00 and an android phone worthing same amount.

It would be recalled that while Coded represented the Ijaw musicians in the Niger Delta, his rival Fanti represented all Ijaw comrades in the Niger region.

However, with the victory of Mr. Buku, the Ijaw musicians had won the Niger Delta comrade family via the cooking contest.

Historically, the victory is now one over one as the comrade family had won the Ijaw musicians in the 2018 edition with a legal fellow, Obiri Jonathan thrashing his then rival Hon. (Comr) Famous Belief.

During the 2018 contest, Obiri represented the comrade family and overwhelmingly won as he crushed Belief who represented the Ijaw musicians.

On his part, Ijaw musical kingpin, high Chief Barrister S. Smooth, the paddle of Niger Delta and member representing Delta State in the board of Nomadic Education had praised Alaowei Prince Promise Lawuru on his initiative to host the contest.

He had asserted that the renowned Niger Delta philanthropist is becoming a symbol of unity in Ijaw nation, stressing that the event is so interesting and calls for sustenance.

According to Smooth, he had noted that few days ago, some persons tried to discourage him from attending the food contest but he dismissed the idea with a promise of gracing the occasion.

Chief Sponsor of the P-Lawuru food contest had vowed to do more for Niger Deltans, stressing that uniting the Ijaws across the region remains the thematic preoccupation of the contest.

He had noted that the food contest is also aimed at revealing the cooking ability of the men folks within Niger Delta and the preservation of Ijaw cultural heritage.

Nevertheless, Lawuru had maintained that the 2020 edition of the contest will be bigger and better as the winner is likely to go home with a car gift.

It would be recalled that Alaowei Prince Promise Lawuru is a renowned Niger Delta philanthropist, president general Egbema brotherhood and Head of Operations, Delta State Waterways and Land Security Committee.

Before declaring Artist Coded M. Buku as the winner of the competition, Chief Judge of the contest, Hon. Simeon Bebenimibo who had extensively deliberated with his panel of Judges and other relevant stakeholders in the arena had maintained that Coded Buku’s food is more tasteful.

However, other criteria include ingredients used in preparing the food, the serving pattern, the hygienic nature of the cooks among other parameters.

It would be recalled that Hon. Bebenimibo, who acted as Chief Judge of the contest is one of Niger Delta finest freedom fighter, obviously overwhelmed by the antecedents of Lawuru, had earlier assisted the event with the sum of #50,000,00.

On his part, the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC secretary of Western Zone, Comr. Doubra Okotete had described Alaowei Lawuru as a great man in the Niger Delta.

It would be recalled that the Western Zone IYC chieftain was the chief observer of the fun fare contest held in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State yesterday.

He had noted that men like Lawuru are not many in Ijaw nation, adding that the fire woods and other materials used for the cooking makes it unique, asserting that he is particularly happy as the event is a practical demonstration of a pertinent part of the rich Ijaw cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, Comr. Anthony Miens Demebide was the master of ceremony for the day, the high powered audience was thrilled by the MC to their maximum satisfaction.

It would be recalled that Anthony is popularly known as MC Akpolokpolo within Warri and its environs.

The event was well attended by people from all works of life within Niger Delta, ranging from rights activists, youth leaders, philanthropists women leaders among others too numerous to mention.
