It is with great excitement, humility and satisfaction that i welcome everyone to the official launching of The Liberator Newspaper, words have truly failed me to describe how grateful i am to see this gathering filled with men and women that truly matter in the society.

The Liberator Newspaper, is a Nigerian media organisation based in the heart of Niger Delta Region with a branch office in Warri, Delta State with a vision to help defend, strengthen and consolidate on the underlying principles of Nigeria’s democracy, promote egalitarianism in the Nigerian State, advance the socio-economic wellbeing and rights of the people, promote and enrich their cultural heritage, a critical look into the minority condition in the Nigerian State, advocate for good governance, transparency and human rights, in line with the values expected of a democratic state such as ours.

The theme of the programme is tagged: “Echoes of the Niger Delta Emancipation, media and the Liberator Example”.

This is a theme coined out considering our firm believe that the Niger Delta region is unarguably one of the most violated, raped and abused region in the world despite her rich natural and human endowments and how the media can be effectively used to correct this age long evil within the Nigerian state.

We in The Liberator Newspaper believes that the media often described as the fourth estate of the realm can play a very key role in stabilizing and contributing meaningfully to the Nigerian democracy, the media truly matter in large measure. It can help forge new communities, pursue political and social agenda in support of a better society, and help build visions of hope and resistance. It was Mohatma Ghandi of Indian that described the media as a double edged sword and of a truth, the media all over the world has been playing both positive and negative roles in the society.

Although no one is perfect, but we must as a Newspaper with the core mandate of liberating the people, especially the oppressed all over the world and the Niger Delta in particular strive for perfection by dishing out decent and responsible news.

The Liberator Newspaper began its website on May 16th 2017 with the launch of its Website into the cyber space though was prior before then existing on Facebook as a page and group since 2014.

We believe that the time has come for Nigeria to embrace the challenge of progress and development in a substantial concrete sense, pursuing development in a more aggressive manner, a development that should be decentralized with riverine communities transforming into cities and hosting credible institutions.

However, we pledge total commitment to contribute our best, inline with the guiding principles of the journalistic profession to journalistically display and demonstrate to our dear country the type of media that will advocate for the people of our nation on the path of development and social reconstruction and engineering.

The core purpose of The Liberator is to enhance society by creating, collecting and distributing high quality news and information. Producing content of the highest quality and integrity is the basis for our reputation and the means by which we fulfill the public trust and our audience expectations.

The Liberator Newspaper will become a voice to the oppressed in the World. The vision behind this media house is to become a global Newspaper owned by a Niger Deltan. As impossible as this vision seem, i want to state that it is very possible with the support of you and i. The people that owns SPDC, CHEVRON, NEW YORK TIMES, WORLD STREET JOURNAL etc are not angels from heaven, they are humans just like us, they are those with similar vision who worked hard to actualize it and that is the same line we are towing to be gathering here to launch this Newspaper to the entire world.

We hope to begin monthly production of the hard copy of The Newspaper addressing very pertinent issues in Ijaw land, Niger Delta as a whole and the world at large in each of our edition just like the maiden edition we are about to launch today.

The Liberator Newspaper have also had her fair share of challenges, looking at the robust vision we have for the human race, we have also come to grapple with challenges like improving on our staff strenght, buying of gadgets like cameras, computers and having offices in Yenagoa, the only Ijaw owned state to properly cover the activities of our people, a Liberator branded ferry boat to have a first hand information within our creeks and of course having an office in Abuja, Lagos and Port-harcourt in other to give Liberator a more national outlook.

Once again thanks to everyone for coming to grace this wonderful and historic event.
