Prominent Ijaw leader and right advocate Comrade Sheriff Mulade has commended the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing grassroot leaders into positions of authority.

Comrade Mulade who is the National coordinator of Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) gave the commendation shortly after the swearing in of final batch of Commissioners in Asaba the state capital recently.

Mulade described recent appointees of the state governor as core grassroot leaders with exceptional grassroot leadership experience.

He posited that Gov. Okowa painstakingly took time to put together the crop of appointees he had nominated for various position and declared that he has no doubt that they will contribute their wealth of experience towards building a stronger Delta in the next four years.

Com. Mulade also congratulated members of the Governing Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC)

THE activist said, ” I am excited about the appointment of Chief Michael Diden as Chairman, Askia Ogieh Managing Director, Com. Shederach Agedida, John Nani, Hon Daniel Mayuku, Gifts on Omatsuli, Paul Owen, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo and others.

He described them as tested and trusted men that will definitely ensure that real development comes to the door steps of the people.

” it is imperative to state that most of the appointees have served in various capacities in their community leadership, therefore we strongly believe in their ability to reposition the commission to thoroughly reflect host communities commission and give hope to the communities and attract the needed development to the oil producing communities in the state.

He noted that the governor had taken into consideration the need to reposition DESOPADEC and place it on the path way of purposeful development for the oil producing communities.

He therefore charged the new members of the commission to take bold step towards addressing the developmental needs of host communities.

Furthermore, he urged the board to be all inclusive in carrying out their development projects across the state and ensure efficiency in service delivery.
Mulade reminded them that they have no excuse for failure as that will amount to putting their integrity at state ,” we cannot blame the governor for any failure because your names and integrity are at stake in the communities.
