The immediate past commissioner for Urban renewal, Chief (Dr) Julius Takeme has been sworn in as the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice chairman and Delta South Senatorial chairman of the party.

Chief Takeme was administered oath of allegiance and office by the party’s Legal adviser before the State Chairman Olorogun Kingsley Esiso and members of the PDP state working committee at the party’s secretariate in Asaba.

The newly inaugurated Delta South PDP boss had however promised to rejig the party along with other party staholders in the senatorial district.

Addressing party faithfuls that gathered for the brief ceremony, the State PDP Chairman, Olorogun Esiso said the swearing in of Chief Julius Takeme as the Chairman of PDP Delta South Senatorial district was necessitated by the vacancy which existed following the appointment of the immediate past Chairman, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba who has been appointed as Commissioner and member of the State Executive Council by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

He reminded Chief Takeme that the position of Senatorial Chairman comes with enormous responsibilities and urged him to be a father to all as his decisions must be seen to be fair and just at all times putting aside his personal interest.

Olorogun Esiso noted Chief Takeme’s position as a member of the State Working Committee of the PDP and Chairman Delta South Senatorial district was well deserved having led the party at the local government area level as well as one time Commissioner and member of the state executive council.

The Chairman urged him to carry everybody along in the scheme of things and should not belong to any group but serve everybody with sincerity of purpose.

The State PDP Chairman noted that as the leader of the Party in Delta South Senatorial district, Chief Takeme would sometimes take difficult decisions for the overall benefit of the Party and urged elders, leaders, stakeholders and members of the PDP in Burutu Local Government Area to support the new senatorial chairman to succeed

Responding, Chief Julius Takeme promised to adhere strictly to the party guidelines in carrying out his duties and pledged to build bridges of unity amongst party members.

Chief Takeme promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the new assignment to the people of Delta State.

In a message of advise to the new party chairman, members representing Burutu 1&2 Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Asupa Forteta and Hon Pullah Ekpotuayerin urged Chief Julius Takeme to strengthen the bond of unity amongst PDP members in Delta South Senatorial district and carry members along in taking decisions affecting the party.

They said Delta South had remained a strong hold of the PDP and should strive to sustain it’s dominance and promised to support him to succeed.

Present at the event was, former Speaker of the State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, the Chairman, Burutu local government council, Chief Godknows Angele, the Leader of Burutu Legislative Arm, Hon. Joseph Alubeze among others.
