Voters in Bayelsa State have been advised to go out peacefully to vote in the local government election holding Saturday August 10.

Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA) gave the advise in a statement signed by its President Comrade Nicholas Igarama.

The Ijaw Youth body warned sternly against violence acts that can lead to loss of life that will further depopulate the Ijaw nation.

While advising the electorates to see themselves first as Ijaws and brothers irrespective of political affiliations, the body urged them to sue for unity rather than division.

” As Bayelsans we should peacefully vote for the leaders we want to lead us as any life lost unjustly will further reduce the population we don’t have causing the oppressed state we already find ourselves”.

”Irrespective of our political affiliations we must first see ourselves as Ijaws and brothers that we are, as divided we fall and in unity we stand firm .”

The Body however called on Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission ( BYSIEC) to be truly independent in its operations to ensure that the will of the people are not subverted.
”Leadership is not about the next election but the next generation” It said
