Delta State government have been called upon to prevail on Shell Petroleum Development Company SPDC to link up Ojobo community to the Beniseide oil flow station to enable constant power supply to the community.

A concerned citizen of the community Mr. John Perekpo made the call during an exclusive chat with The Liberator Newspaper.

Perekpo decried the worsening infrastructural decay in Ojobo community and called on government to prevail on SHELL to make commitments toward the development of the community.

Perekpo decried that Ojobo use to be the envy of other communities both in and outside the Ijaw nation but today, the reverse is the case.

He disclosed that ”the famous Zuokumo primary school and Gbesa Memorial Grammar School which is now known as Guess Grammar School have produced great men in Burutu, Delta State and Nigeria at large. ”

”The Ojobo man or woman is always proud of their community with the appellation ” ene Ojobo ke ene Ojobo”. They first embraced education before most other towns in Ijaw land”. He noted

He lamented that ”the story is turning the other way round because members of this community can no longer boast of any meaningful development in the community due to neglect by the state government and SHELL who operate divide and rule .

”We told them to give us gas turbine light and they agreed to connect us to our oil flow station but till today no way.”

He then called on government and all well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the community by prevailing on Shell to connect the community to the Beniseide flow station for constant power supply.
