Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Clan Chairmen Forum  in Westen Zone have commended the peaceful disposition of the 2020 Electoral Committee of IYC ahead of its national election slated to commence on the 18th and 19th of July 2020 at Oporoza, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Western  Zone IYC Clan Chairmen Forum lauded Ijaw leaders and other critical stakeholders in the system for their peaceful drive so far, noting that a good and better Ijaw Youth Council is truly emerging.

Speaking on behalf of the 23 Clan Chairmen in Western Zone, the duo of Comr. Thompson Fuludu Mienkebena, chairman of the Clan Chairmen Forum and Comr. Godspower Erekake, secretary of the Forum made their position known to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

The statement had stated that they are in total support of the postponement of the election, stressing that the electoral Committee  should use the shift to put their house in order and correct whatever that needs to be corrected before the election to avoid another postponement.

The duo had appealed to candidates contesting the election to keep calm over the postponement as it may have caused them a lot of spendings, maintaining that since the campaigns, they have continued to be civil while canvassing for support.

The Clan Chairmen Forum had charged the Electoral Committee headed by Barr. Bekewei Ajuwa to urgently publish the delegate list for the election, stressing that such is very important as candidates have been spending much already on supposed delegates.

The statement noted that  it is no longer a news that candidates have been spending money on people they think are delegates but in the real sense may not even be a delegate after all, adding that publishing the delegates list is crucial for candidates not to spend much.

In their words: “We are really feeling the pains of the various candidates as they are spending so much on people that may not be delegates, the urgent publishing of the delegate list is not something to delay at this point in time as it is not a healthy one ”

The statement also want the immediate publishing of all the candidates vying for the various positions in council by the Eleco for the Ijaw nation to really know those that are contesting, maintaining that such too must not be delayed.
