​Dying Fishes: Okowa Provides Relief Materials To Burutu, Warri South West, Warri North LGAs In Delta

His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to providing selfless services to Deltans, the Honoruable Commissioner for Oil and gas Chief Emman Amgbaduba made this known as he addressed representatives of each ward and journalists yesterday during the distribution of relief materials to affected Local Government Areas at Government annex, Warri.

Following the motion raised by the member representing Warri South West in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor  calling  on the State and Federal government to save the means of livelihood and to provide relief materials to the affected coastal communities as a result of incessant cases of dying fishes along the shore lines of river Forcados, Escravos and their tributaries. 

The Delta State government on Monday through its State Emergency Management Agency donated some relief materials to the affected people from Warri South West, Warri North and Burutu local government areas.

Hon. Guwor speaking with newsmen at the Delta State governors office annex in Warri, appreciated the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for coming to the aid of the people by providing relief materials that are geared towards ameliorating the pains and challenges of the people.

Guwor while calling on the federal government to commence  investigation into the issues and conduct adequate assessment of the affected communities to avoid future reoccurrence as fishing is the means of livelihood of the  people of the coastal communities.

Guwor also called on the federal government to support the efforts of the State government by providing relief materials for the affected communities in a view to alleviating the sufferings of the people. 

Items distributed through the various wards includes Rice, Indomie noodles, packets sugar, bags of salt, mosquito nets, tomatoes, tooth  pastes, roofing sheets, mats, palm oil, buckets, nails amongst others.
