Renowned Niger Delta philanthropist cum activist, Amb. John Dekawei has appealed to leaders of the Niger Delta region to see themselves as one without necessarily having any bickering among themselves.

He said if Niger Deltans have rich people and their communities have no drinkable water and lacks the basic social amenities, it means that Niger Deltans are poor.

In speaking about oil politics, the revered Niger Delta Youth leader had urged oil producing communities to see non oil bearing communities as their brothers and not to segregate them as Non Oil bearing communities when it comes to certain benefits.

Amb. John said such segregation is responsible for many bickering within the Ijaw nation, thereby impeding on the growth and development of Ijaw nation.

Dekawei maintained that while the Ijaw nation is faced with series of unprecedented challenges, he said the quick presentation and passage of the Coastal Areas Development Agency Bill (CADA) remains key to the Development of Ijaws in Delta State.

He particularly stated that the Ijaw lawmakers in the Delta State House of Assembly must not waste time in presenting the bill, adding that CADA remains the only visible gain to the Ijaws in Delta if passed into law.

He particularly called on Ijaw politicians to be more serious with the presentation of CADA, emphasising that no one should play politics with the bill that bears the hallmark of Ijaw prosperity in Delta State.
