Celebration As Germany Varsity Collaborate With GCU, Confers Conflict Resolution Doctorate Degree On Agediga

There was massive jubilation in Ijaw nation within the Niger Delta region as His Excellency, Amb. Comr. Shedrack Agediga bagged a Doctor of Conflict Resolution degree (HONORIS CAUSA) from the Global Christian University, Nigeria in affiliation with the Peoples International University, Germany. The Liberator Newspapers can report.
Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga is the Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
In his speech before conferring the doctorate degree on Amb. Shedrack Agediga at the Mission Support International Hall, Airport Road Warri on Saturday by Prof. Phillip Ibiyeye, rector of the Global Christian University, Nigeria on behalf of its affiliate institution the Peoples International University, Germany had reeled out its norms and traditions of the institution.
Prof. Ibiyeye had during the conferment exercise called on Amb. Shedrack Agediga to see the new uplifment as a call to duty, he maintained that Agediga’s award as Doctor in Conflict Resolution is in line with the many years of his peace building efforts across the Nigerian nation, particularly the Niger Delta region during its hot days.
The rector after performing all the conferment nuances stressed that henceforth Shedrack Agediga will now be addressed as Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga.
It would be recalled that Elder Chief Isioma Okonta was also confered with Doctorate Degree alongside Dr. Agediga yesterday at the Mission Support International Hall, Airport Road, Warri.
However, while Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga hails from oil rich Ogulagha kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area, his counterpart Chief Dr. Isioma Okonta is from Ika South Local Government Area both in Delta State.
Speaking during the conferment, Prof. Phillip had tasked the duo of Dr. Agediga and his counterpart Dr. Okonta to continue to uphold the tenets of the honour given to them, stressing that they must continue to work hard to make the universities proud even as they are not in doubt about their various capacities to deliver at any point in time.
In his reaction, Dr. Shedrack Agediga appreciated the Global Christian University, Nigeria and its affiliate Peoples International University, Germany for honouring him with such a degree, adding that his happiness knows no bounds.
Dr. Shedrack assured the university that he will ensure that he upholds the onerous responsibilities that comes with the latest honour, maintaining that he will be available to support the programmes and activities of the university.
Dr. Shedrack asserted that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him by the institution, adding that he feels so honoured for the rare conferment.
Nevertheless, in a brief interview with The Liberator Newspapers, Engr. Felix Braboke, Special Assistant (SA) to Dr. Agediga, ED, PRS, DESOPADEC while expressing happiness on the elevation of his boss stressed that the conferment is a welcome development to all lovers of peace in the world.
He said over time, Dr. Agediga have demonstrated uncommon leadership in Nigeria and the Niger Delta region, adding that his quest to see a crises free Niger Delta and Nigeria at large is equal to none.
Engr. Felix Braboke stated that the conferment of doctorate degree in Conflict Resolution by the prestigious universities will no doubt spour his boss to do more, stressing that over the years without any Government position, Dr. Agediga always spent his personal hard earned scarce resources to organize peace programmes across the Niger Delta region and beyond.
According to him, the doctorate degree confered on the DESOPADEC ED is a reward for his many years of hard work, asserting that he has used his personal money and connections in sending many Niger Deltans to abroad to have knowledge on peace building.
The Liberator Newspapers can report that Dr. Shedrack Agediga plays a pivotal role that culminated in the birth of the Presidential Niger Delta Amnesty Programme (PAP) in 2009, he also worked closely with the then leaders of the programme as instructor to the repented agitators on the gains associated with a peaceful society.
Shedrack Agediga is also the Chairman of the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF), a Non Governmental Organisation he has used in transforming the lives of many across the country. He also plays critical role in abating the reincarnating Ogbe-Ijoh Aladja crises.
Owing to his deeds towards humanity, Dr. Agediga has bagged several awards too numerous to mention including the Nelson Mandela centenary award, a world peace ambassador from the United Nations (UN) PALAC.
During the previous administration of Governor Okowa, Dr. Agediga was Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on Conflict Resolution, a position he used in collaboration with the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF) to constantly preach the gospel of peace across the state.
It would be recalled that his drive for peace led to the pardoning of some inmates from prisons by the Governor of Delta State, some of which are now proud ambassadors of peace.
Dr. Shedrack was gallantly accompanied by his lovely wife Mrs Agediga to the hall for the conferment ceremony.
Meanwhile, the conferment ceremony was well graced by personalities from all works of life within the Niger Delta region ranging from political appointees, political leaders, women groups, youth leaders, Niger Delta human right activists, community leaders with the host of several groups.
