President general of a frontline Niger Delta sociocultural group, under the aegis of Egbema Brotherhood (EB), Chief Promise Lawuru has cautioned his Egbema Kingdom political leaders in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State not to advance their selfish interests.

While thanking the Itsekiris for ceding the Chairmanship position to the Ijaws of Egbema  in Warri North for their brotherly love, the Niger Delta Ex-agitator had called on his Egbema political leaders to as a matter of urgency to call for a meeting with a view of having a consensus candidate among the contestants.

The Niger Delta advocate for good governance, Lawuru gave the charge yesterday in Warri while reacting to what he described as political developments in Warri North Local Government Area and Egbema Kingdom.

He continued that such meeting to select a consensus Ijaw candidate from Egbema Kingdom to fly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag in the Chairmanship position of Warri North has become necessary owing to the many aspirants jostling for the  position with political desperation and bitterness.

Chief Promise stated that now that the Itsekiris have agreed to cede the Chairmanship of Warri North to the Egbema people 27 years after, the Ijaw people need to unite more than ever to agree on a consensus without necessarily fighting among themselves.

However, the Egbema Brotherhood president hinted The Liberator Newspapers that he was very much in the race for the Chairmanship position but noted that the blackmail and character assassination meted out on him by his people made him to back out from the race as he is not ready to play such bitter politics with his own people.

The statement asserted that the Ijaws of Egbema must be wise enough to quickly put their house in proper perspective for others not to hijack the process.

On his part, the generalissimo of all Egbema former warlords, self styled Gen. Camp had also warned Egbema political leaders not to mess up the opportunity with their alleged selfish interests, fuming that if anything happens to topple the chances of Egbema Indigene not becoming the next Chairman of Warri North, they will have him to contend with.

The Liberator Newspapers can report that Chief Promise Lawuru is a Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) to Governor Okowa on Security.
