​Yuletide Season: Agediga Splashes Millions On Food Items For Party Leaders, Youth Groups, Women Groups, Others

As the Christmas and New Year celebration gradually draws nearer, Chairman and founder of the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF) who doubles as the Executive Director (ED), Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga  has once again  splashed millions on party leaders, organized youth groups, women groups as well as other groups in the Niger Delta region by distributing food items to celebrate the festive season. The distribution of the food items was done yesterday at his guest house in Warri with members of the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF) under the supervision of its founder cum chairman, Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga. 

In an interview with journalists during the distribution exercise,  Dr. Agediga stated that though the year has been tough with series of setbacks economically and otherwise, he maintained that it gives him joy to see that he gives back to society in his own way. 

When asked on what really propelled him for the kind gesture, Agediga said giving has always been part of him, adding that he is not giving because he is in position but he is giving because it is part of him.

The global peace expert had however appreciated His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for truly handling Delta State with remarkable developmental strides across the state, adding that Deltans should continue to give the Okowa’s administration the needed cooperation, describing Deltans as wonderful people. 

Dr. Shedrack explained that the food items is being distributed by the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF) and not from his office in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), stressing that as a commision, DESOPADEC is also doing its part to distribute food items to communities and personalities in their mandate areas. 

Speaking further, Agediga had however appreciated political leaders, Youth groups, women groups as well as his supporters for their constant show of love towards him, adding that the food items presented to them was a show of appreciation to them.

The food items include bags of rice, kegs of groundnut Oil as well as other items.

Some of the groups that benefited from the kind gesture include Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Ijaw Women Connect (IWC), Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone, Ward 11 PDP Caucus, Ward 11 PDP Exco, Delta Ijaw Comrade Community, Hostcom youths, Ogulagha Women in Warri, Gbaramatu Youths Council (GYC), Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council (OKYC), Meinbutus, Students Unions, Ward 19 leaders, people living in his street as well as others. 

On what Deltans, particularly the Oil bearing communities should expect from DESOPADEC in 2021, the Executive Director (ED), Planning, Research and Statistics, Agediga had stated that stronger DESOPADEC should be expected, adding that despite the economic downturn occasioned by the novel coronavirus in the country and other unfriendly activities that characterises 2020, the commission was still able to come out strong with the execution of laudable projects in their mandate areas, expressing optimism that next year will definitely be better. 

However, on his part, Chief Amb. Evans Etimigba (JP), Chairman of the Ward 11 Caucus in Burutu Local Government Area had described Agediga as a rare human specie in politics, stressing that ward 11 is proud of him. 

He said doing good for humanity has always been part of Agediga, adding that he has over time added so much value to the politics of ward 11, Burutu Local Government Area and Delta State at large.

Amb. Etimigba maintained that the caucus will continue to identify and celebrate Agediga whom he described as a shining example of good leader, noting that despite hard times, he had continued to be there for his people. 

IYC, OKYC commends Agediga 

Representing the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC ) Western Zone,  Madam  Loveth Ebiere Timothy said “this is a noble one, we commend Agediga for his show of love, he is a rare kind of person, he is just too excellent, we are calling on other leaders of Ijaw nation to do so, let others emulate him, this items will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of people, it is true that not everyone can afford rice, we in IYC Western Zone, we deeply appreciate this kind gesture, may God continue to bless him “. Loveth stated. 

On his part, Comr. Justice Akuna, president general of Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council (OKYC) asserted that “Dr. Amb. Shedrack Agediga is an illustrious  son of Ogulagha kingdom that we are very proud of, his activities today is not new to me, it is part of him to do good, God should continue to expand him, he has empowered youths in Ogulagha Kingdom and beyond, we are thankful to him for many reasons, we hope to emulate him when given such opportunity to serve under such leadership, i laud him for his services over time. God will guide and protect him for us.”
