National Honours: Delta South PDP Chairman Takeme Congratulates Okowa On CON Award
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta South have congratulated Governor of Delta and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa on his national award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement personally signed and issued to newsmen in Asaba yesterday by Chief Dr. Julius Takeme (JP), Chairman of the Delta South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said the conferment of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Muhammadu Buhari on Governor Okowa is a welcome development and a sign of good omen for Nigerians .
According to Dr. Takeme, “The award of CON to PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa by President Muhammadu Buhari, which is coming alongside the overwhelming nationwide acceptance by Nigerians of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections is no doubt an eloquent testimony that God is saying something.
“The national honour on Governor Okowa is also a reaffirmation of the confidence Nigerians repose in his sterling leadership qualities and achievements in Delta State as well as his capacity to work with our Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the task of Rescuing, Redirecting and Rebuilding our dear nation under a PDP administration.”
However, the Delta South PDP Chairman noted that he is happy with the fact that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is not only seen as a developmental champion in Delta state alone but he is now a national champion and a force to reckon with.
According to him, Deltans are not surprised at the award, stressing that the conferment of CON award to Governor Okowa by the President of the federation is a well deserved one, adding that the political contribution and development of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Delta state and nation building is unprecedented.
