Political Leaders of Ijaws in Delta State, particularly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met and briefed Ijaw Traditional Rulers in Delta State earlier today on their plan to unveil Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Governorship candidate and his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme as sole Ijaw candidates for the Delta State 2023 Governorship.
The Delta Ijaw Political Leaders before moving out to see the Ijaw Traditional Rulers had briefly met at the residence of Elder P. Y Biakpara in Warri.
However, in his speech during the meeting held at the Royal Castle of His Royal Majesty, Elder Capt. Dr. Joseph Timiyan (JP), Torububor 1, Agbonu, the Pere of Ogulagha kingdom who is the Chairman of the Delta State Ijaw Traditional Rulers in Warri, Dr. Chief Amb. Julius Takeme (JP), Chairman of the Delta South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had lauded the Ijaw Traditional Rulers for the audience.
The Delta South PDP Chairman, Dr. Julius Takeme had noted that the Delta Ijaw Political Leaders have after critical assessment of the candidature of Sheriff Oborevwori and his deputy Monday Onyeme have come to the firm conclusion that the duo have the political and democratic credentials to move Delta State and the Ijaw ethnic nationality forward if elected as Governor and deputy Governor of Delta State come 2023.
Dr. Takeme noted that briefing the Ijaw Traditional Rulers and to seek their Royal blessings ahead of the anticipated unveiling tomorrow is very important, adding that the Ijaw Political class and the Ijaw Traditional Institution needs to work together in synergy to move Ijaw nation forward.
Speaking further, Takeme had asserted that the Ijaws will unveil and adopt Sheriff and his deputy Monday Onyeme as sole Ijaw 2023 Governorship and deputy candidates.
According to him, the duo will no doubt continue with the laudible legacies of Okowa as Governor of Delta State and will from all indication advance Delta State for the better.Dr. Takeme stated that the Ijaw Political class will also adopt the Atiku/Okowa PDP 2023 Presidential ticket, stressing that Atiku/Okowa remains the best option to move Nigeria forward, adding that the suffering of Nigerians under the APC led Federal Government of Nigeria has become too alarming.

In his reaction as Chairman of the Delta State Ijaw Traditional Rulers, the paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom had told the Ijaw Political Leaders on behalf of the other Ijaw kings not to politicise the development of the Ijaws in Delta State.The Kings while giving Royal Blessings to the PDP leaders had charged the political leaders to always use every available opportunity to draw development to the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Delta State.The meeting was well attended by a lot of Delta Ijaw Political Leaders.
