Five disgruntled governors who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have arrived in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The governors, known as G-5 Governors are Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

On Wednesday, the governors had jetted to the United Kingdom over what may have been described as a strategic meeting.

This followed the uncertainty surrounding the choice of their preferred presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

The camp of Bola Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate was said to have met with the governors in London.

It was gathered that the APC presidential candidate and the aggrieved governors met on Wednesday night at the London.

Tinubu’s supporters included Jigawa State Governor Badaru Abubakar and former Ekiti State Governor John Kayode Fayemi were also in the meeting.

According to a source, all other people present at Tinubu’s residence were excused before the meeting began.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Wike described the 2023 elections as “serious.”

He however denied reports that the group had endorsed a particular presidential candidate.

“Next year’s election is going to be serious; we have not reached any deal with anybody. When we do, we would let you know. Leave G-5 alone and focus on yourself,” the Rivers governor said.

Wike had earlier explained that he would reveal his choice of presidential candidate to support in January 2023.
