Commander Oyimi Mother’s Canopy To Be Dropped Tomorrow Days After Her Death
…Bestman May to Perform till dawn Today
Former commander of the Defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and Chairman Movement for the Actualisation of the Dreams of Niger Deltans (MADND), Mr. Josiah Oyakongan, aka Commander Oyimi, has hinted Liberator newspaper worldwide that as tradition demands, they will be dropping canopy for the remains of his late mother, Mrs. Esanteme-ere Izoukumor Oyakonghan (Nee Oguro) very early on Friday’s morning (January 20th 2023), revealing that the last day of gathering will be today from 4 pm.
He added that rising Ijaw music icon, Bestmay alias JFred will be the guest artist on stage to perform till dawn as they drop canopy tomorrows’ morning.
The former ex-warlord appreciated all those who have commiserated with him and his extended family members since the excruciating demise of their matriarch.

Statement from Mr. Josiah Oyakonghan aka Commander Oyimi following the death of his mother, Mrs. Esanteme-ere Izoukumor Oyakonghan (Nee Oguro)
First, I would like to thank all those who have commiserated with my family and extended family members over the death of our beloved mother, Mrs. Esanteme-ere Izoukumor Oyakonghan (Nee Oguro).
The death of a mother is painful. However, my family and other family members are comforted and sustained by our knowledge of respect and deep affection of our mother’s immense personal courage. She was a fighter, a rallying point, who had a good sense of humor. We will miss her, no doubt.
NB: It has been three days since our beloved mothers’ passage, so we will be dropping canopy as tradition demands very early on Friday’s morning (January 20th 2023), therefore, the last gathering will be today from 4 pm. Consequently, friends, well-wishers, sympathizers and other family members should take note.
Also, rising Ijaw music icon, Bestmay alias JFred will be on stage till dawn.
Once again, I want to appreciate all those who have sent in condolence messages during this period. These messages mean a lot to me and my family.
