The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Western Zone has condemned the killing of two Ijaw Indigenes by suspected Fulani Herdsmen on Monday at Toru-Angiama community in Patani Local Government Area of Delta state.

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone made the condemnation in a statement personally signed by Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman IYC Western Zone, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today.

The Ijaw Youth Council in Western Zone had while condemning the sad situation had called on security agents to go after the suspected Fulani Herdsmen for them to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking further, Dr. Okotete noted that since the incident happened on Monday atToru-Angiama community in Patani Local Government Area of Delta state, he has not relaxed nor sleep as he has been on top of the matter by contacting relevant stakeholders.

According to him, while describing the death of the two Ijaw sons as painful and unfortunate, Okotete said Council will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to book and punished according to the provisions of the law, stressing that such a great crime cannot be swept under the carpet.

However, Dr. Okotete had particularly sympathised with the families that have lost their children to take heart, adding that the entire Ijaw Youths in Western Zone are mourning over their death.

Nevertheless, Dr. Doubra had also called on residents of Patani Local Government Area to be vigilant and alert, stressing that they should cooperate and work closely with security agencies by giving useful information to security personnel.

“This is really sad and painful. Ijaw nation have lost two great sons. As council, we are sounding a note of warning to whoever that is behind such evil act to desist before things will get out of hand. Security agencies must swing into action now “. Okotete added.
