Revered group operating under the auspices of Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) on Wednesday berated the Minister of Petroleum for State, Chief Timipre Sylva over his inability to resolve the twin issue of fuel hike and scarcity rocking parts of the country.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore alias young chief, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today in Warri.

The Niger Delta Youth Council President, Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore stated that the Minister of Petroleum for State, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva should resign if he cannot handle the fuel situation rocking the country.

However, Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore noted that official pump price of fuel per litre is pegged at N165-185, adding that fuel is currently being sold far above such amount like N500, N450 and above per litre in several states including Delta State.

According to Amb. Bene, fuel scarcity and its hike began since November 2022, stressing that till now it is going from bad to worse as helpless Nigerians groan in pains on a daily basis in other to get fuel.

Speaking further, the NDYC President maintained that due to fuel hike and its scarcity in the country, the prices of commodities in the market have increased to an alarming point including transport system and virtually everything in the country as life has become more difficult for Nigerians.

He continued that the Minister in charge of such sector cannot be seen being comfortable while people are suffering across the country.

Nevertheless, Bene stressed that it is shameful for marketers to sell fuel price above the official pump price by the Federal Government of Nigeria and yet the government through its regulatory agencies cannot do anything about such situation.

The youth leader maintained that if things continue like this with no remedy in sight, it will be better that there is no leader or minister to be in charge of such places to adjudicate on behalf of the people.
