His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa CON, Former Governor of Delta State
Dear Sir,
Let me begin by congratulating you on the overwhelming victory achieved in the Governorship Election and the State House of Assembly election, coupled with your successful administration as the Executive Governor of our dear state for eight years and the glitch-free ceremony for the handover of the mantle of power to His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewore, the Executive Governor of our dear state.
Let me also appreciate your leadership style since you have been the Executive Governor of our dear state for the past eight years.
Your Excellency will recall that a passionate appeal was made to you when Hon. Smart Yomi Asekutu was considered as the candidate of our great party for the Warri North Local Government Council Chairmanship election, wherein I was one of the contestants during the primary, and you promised to consider me when the new DESOPADEC Board would be inaugurated. Your Excellency, today you have made good on your promise.
I am highly elated for this appointment as a Commissioner on the Board of DESOPADEC, a responsibility which offers me an opportunity to serve and deliver the dividends of democracy to my people in particular and the state at large. My confidence is hinged on the fact that I have, over the years, drawn from the well of your leadership fountain, which is manifested by the delivery of people-oriented quality projects in the oil-producing communities, which, by providence, I now represent as Commissioner on the board of DESOPADEC.
There is no doubt that the decision to consider me for appointment at the last lap of your administration speaks volumes of your innate courage of character, which enables you to take critical decisions and positions, stand by them, and defend them to the last minute, irrespective of whose ox is gored.
Indeed, you are a promise keeper.
Your Excellency, it is in cognizance of the great ideals you represent that I want to use this medium to formally thank you for the opportunity given to me to serve my people.
In conclusion, on behalf of the political leadership of Ijaw ethnic extraction and the good people of Egbema kingdom, I say thank you.
My prayers and support are with you, and may God grant you victory in the presidential election tribunal.
Hon. Spencer O. Okpoye Commissioner Representing, Ijaw Ethnic Nationality on the board of DESOPADEC
