…Courtesy visit continues

…As President Lokpobiri vows to challenge the status quo

The 9th National Executive Council of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide (IYC) led by Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri has swinged into action by embarking on courtesy visit to critical stakeholders in the region.

Those visited so far include the leadership of Ijaw National Congress (INC) led by Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President INC, commissioner Ijaw affairs, Bayelsa State, Elder Patrick Ucheowaji Erasmus and His Eminence Alhaji Asari Dokubo.

The 9th President in his speech had promised the Ijaw people that together with his Exco members and other critical stakeholders of council, he will provide the leadership that the Ijaw Youths truly yearns for.

However, according to Lokpobiri, he opined that the Ijaws are not comfortable with the current arrangement of things in the Nigerian State in terms of the equitable distribution of resources to his people, adding that council under his leadership will challenge the status quo.

President Jonathan said the courtesy visit to critical stakeholders in Ijaw is very important and key in moving council forward, stressing that the courtesy visit will continue.

Sir Lokpobiri had also used the opportunity to unveil the agenda of the 9th NEC, adding that council will no longer keep quiet in the face of injustice metted out on the Ijaws in the Nigerian State.

Meanwhile, the trio of Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Commissioner Ijaw affairs, Bayelsa State, Elder Patrick Ucheowaji Erasmus and His Eminence Alhaji Asari Dokubo, former President of council have all thrown their weight behind the 9th NEC led by President Jonathan Lokpobiri, stating that they will do everything within their powers to make the exco succeed by giving them absolute support.
