IYC: King Ateke, Elder Oshimili Pledge Total Support For 9th NEC

…Council will be strong again to confront our issues in Nigeria – Lokpobiri

The 9th National Executive Council of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide led by Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri has gotten the total blessing and support of critical stakeholders of Ijaw Nation.

On Tuesday the 25th of July 2023, the IYC President, his Exco members, Zonal Chairmen, parliament leadership, clan chairmen, elders Council and other critical stakeholders of council visited His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom, the Amayanabo of Ochochiri Kingdom at his palace in Rivers State on a familiarisation visit.

However, in his message, President Lokpobiri Jonathan had promised to partner with the revered Niger Delta paramount ruler and other critical stakeholders in negotiating a better deal for the Ijaws in Nigeria.

Nevertheless, the message was same at the residence of Elder Oshimili, pioneer Zonal Chairman, Eastern Zone IYC.

The IYC President while lauding the duo as critical stakeholders in the Ijaw struggle for progress, noted that it was only proper for the 9th NEC to return back to the leaders on a familiarisation visit in order to tap from their wealth of experience.

Sir Jonathan asserted that never again in his time as President of council, the Ijaw people will be relegated to the background again, stressing that council will embrace friends of the Ijaws and resist foes of the Ijaw people in the Nigerian State.

“Our people cannot continue to suffer in the midst of plenty, if our land is fertile enough for oil exploration, then we must actively participate in the process. It is in the best interest of the Federal Government to give the Ijaw people what they want. ” Lokpobiri
