Erudite Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC ) Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill has stated that the 9th National Executive Council (NEC) of IYC under Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr as President is fulfilling its promises to the Ijaw nation.

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill made the remark at Nairobi Kenya yesterday while speaking with The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

The Spokesman of Council noted that the 9th NEC led by Lokpobiri had upon its inauguration promised to run a decent and united Council laced with inclusivity that will always allay the fears of the Ijaw people in the Nigerian State.

According to Princewill, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide will continue to use all available means at its disposal to negotiate a better deal for the Ijaw people.

However, the image maker of council noted that the national leadership of council had been out of the country working hard to seek global partnership for the Ijaw people.

Princewill explained that seeking global collaboration with revered World institutions to press forward the demands of the Ijaw people in the Nigerian State is what council is now embarking on.

Nevertheless, Yerin in his words was quoted as saying “Today Ijaw sons and daughters should be happy because as the World gather to discuss and proffer solutions on the burning issue of climate change and its negative effects in the World, the IYC was present in Accra Ghana at the Climate Reality Project to speak on the plight of the Ijaw people with particular regard to how the menace of climate change is affecting the Niger Delta and Ijaw people.

“Again, as 193 countries converged in Nairobi Kenya at the just concluded Inter Governmental Negotiation Committee on Plastic Pollution INC-3 to develop an International legal binding instrument, the IYC was also there to present the position of the Ijaw people. This to us is laudable and in line with our agenda to globalize the Ijaw struggle”.

It would be recalled that while the Climate Reality Project in Accra Ghana started on the 13th of November and ended on the 15th of November 2023, the UNEP Programme on Plastic Pollution in Nairobi Kenya also started on the 13th of November 2023 and ended on Sunday 19th of November 2023.

Binebai stressed that participating in these two global conferences is key and very important to the Ijaw people who bear the brunt of these two life threatening problems.

Amb. Binebai asserted that in view of all these, the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has activated plans to massively celebrate the 25 years existence of IYC also known as the Kaiama Declaration Silver Jubilee celebration in Nigeria.

Spokesman Binebai had lauded the Ijaw people so far for their love and support for the 9th NEC, stressing that IYC will continue to champion the cause for the development of Ijaw Nation.
