EMENIBUKU KILLING IN ABUA/ODUAL LGA IN RIVERS STATE.

CHAIRMAN, IYC CENTRAL ZONE CONDEMN KILLING OF FOUR MILITARY PERSONAL AND TWO CIVILIAN DRIVERS.

The Chairman of the Central Zone of the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, Comr. Perekosufa Ineife has condemned the killing of four military men and two civilian drivers in EMENIBUKU Community in Abua/ Odual Clan, Rivers State of the Zone on the need early hours of Tuesday 12th of December, 2023.

The Zonal Chairman who led his Executive Members to pay a condolence visit to the area visited the Commander, Operation Still Water 3, Obtic JTF, Abua-Odual, Major Saleh Galadima.

According to the Chairman:
” We are here to condole with you for the loss of four Gallant men and two civilian drivers under your command, it is so pathetic to loss people under your watch, as Ijaw Youths we are behind you at this your time of grief, we have already initiated contacts to bring perpetrators to book, we are also appealing that your command should be professional, not to go into the community and conduct mass arrest and burn down houses indiscriminately”.

Major Saleh Galadima in his Speech lauded the Central Zone Executive for their timely visit, he promised to relate the issues raised to the Military Command and encouraged the Council to join hands with security operatives to rescue the two Korean Expatriates kidnapped during the operation, as well as the two riffles missing after the military attack on soldiers attached to Daewoo Construction Company.

The Chairman of Council also visited the Abua-Odual Central Police Command and held a close door meeting with the Divisional Police Office, DPO as he restated that Council will not hide any youths found wanting in perpetrating
crime and criminality, he said:” The era of brigandage and lawlessness in the struggle is over, 25 years after, we have resolved to use the intellectual property of our people rather than arms to state our point, we will not condole any group who perpetrate evil in the name of activism as youths. We will bring the culprits to book and champion the course for the kidnapped Korean Expatriates to regain their freedom, we sincerely condemn this act”.

Other leaders and ex- executives including: Romans John, Assistant Secretary of the Zone, Comr. Oye Sampson, Mr, Friday Bless, Comr. January Ogbokuma condemned the act in its entirety, noting that since Tuesday 12th December, 2023 residents in the community now leave in fear and anguish. According to them economic, social and educational activities in the area has been brought to standstill awaiting the next line of action by the security operatives.

Comr Perekosufa Ineife who addressed a world Press conference in Abua after an on the spot assessment of the scene advised Ijaw Youths to be law abiding and contribute to the peace building drive in the Niger Delta region.

The Chairman was accompanied on the visit by his Vice, Comr. Kelvin Mac-Joel, Information Officer, Ginah Ikio, Director Mobilisation, Comr. Jacob Timidiseghe, Students Representatives, Comr. Tombara Felagha, Dr Inebaraton Preye and other Stakeholders from the Abua-Odual axis of the Zone.
