Niger Delta Youths Council Backs IYC, Criticise Killing Of Soldiers At Okuama

The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has thrown its weight behind the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide by criticising and condemning killing of 16 Soldiers at Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Reacting to the ugly development, the Niger Delta Youth Council had while sympathising with the families of the slain soldiers had particularly described the action as barbaric and highly senseless.

The Niger Delta Youth Council made its position known via a press statement jointly signed by the duo of Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young chief, President and Comr. Onitsha Ebikeme Shadrach, Secretary, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday.

The duo had in the statement called on the military to conduct thorough investigation on the matter, stressing that such evildoers cannot go unpunished.

Speaking further, NDYC had also called on His Excellency, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State to urgently put an end to the lingering communal crisis between the people of Okuama and Okoloba communities in Ughelli South and Bomadi Local Government Areas of Delta State.

The statement continued that too many lives have been lost in this battle already, stressing that something urgent has to be done by it by the authorities.

It would be recalled that on Thursday 14th of March 2024, Soldiers on a peace mission to Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area were ambushed around Okuama and about 16 Soldiers lost their lives in this deadly attack.
