FG Should Partner With The People Of Gbaramatu Kingdom On Amaseikumor Festival – IYC Spokesman

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been urged to have a serious partnership with the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area on the Kingdom’s annual Amaseimokumor Festival. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

The recommendation was made by the erudite Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill yesterday at Oporoza while reacting to newsmen regarding the Festival.

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill had particularly called on the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy to seriously look into the Amaseikumor Festival, stressing that from all indications, the festival is gradually becoming one of the biggest and most celebrated festival in Nigeria.

Speaking further, Princewill said year in and year out, the Federal Government of Nigeria has been injecting funds into the Ministry of Art and Culture for cultural development but over the years, Ijaws that have renowned World class festivals are yet to receive support from the Ministry.

However, the Spokesman of IYC also listed other festivals in Ijaw land that deserved to be supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Arts and Culture and other relevant agencies to include Olorogun Festival of Ayakoromo, Arogbo-Ibe Day, Ogbinbiri Day, Agular Festival of Ofougbene, Abadezongo Festival of Odimodi, Ofoni-okine Festival of Ogbe-Ijoh, Okeleke of Torugbene with the host of other festivals in Ijaw lands in Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Ondo, Edo and what have you.

Nevertheless, Binebai maintained that it is high time the people of Niger Delta, particularly the Ijaws feel the impact of the Government in this direction.

The Spokesman particularly commended High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo, popularly known as Tompolo and the entire people of Gbaramatu Kingdom for packaging the Amaseikumor Festival to this World standard, adding that the entire Ijaw nation is proud of Tompolo and Gbaramatu Kingdom.

“The Ijaw people will want to see the visible participation and partnership of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Arts and Culture in the 2025 edition of Amaseikumor Festival ” . Princewill added.

Speaking further, Binebai also described the festival as one of its kind in Nigeria, maintaining that the festival is not only a celebration galore but a celebration of unity across Nigeria.

“Seeing Ooni of Ife, Northern Monarchs, Kings across Ijaw nation, Senators, Ministers, House of Representative members, speakers and State House of Assembly members, business icons and critical stakeholders across Nigeria gracing the occasion is something to be happy about hence we are commending the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom for packaging the Amaseikumor Festival.” Yerin stated.

Meanwhile, the IYC Spokesman had called on other Ijaw kingdoms across Nigeria to emulate Gbaramatu Kingdom by reviving our traditional worships and culture, stressing that “our culture is our identity and as Ijaw people “.
