The Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom structure of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has written His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State over alleged plot to disrupt a peaceful delineation process in Warri South.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Comr. Moses Omare, Chairman IYC Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Donye Vincent, Secretary of the IYC, Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom and seven (7) others, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday.
The joint statement had also called on security agents to be alert, stressing that the Ijaws will not seat idle and watch any funny moves from anyone or group of people.
The statement reads in full below:
Delineation: Ogbe-Ijoh IYC Writes Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori over purported plans aimed disrupting the process
~Caution Itsekiris over attempts to disrupt the peaceful process
The Ijaw Youth Council Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Clan Chapter, Boluo-Ama community under other Ijaw communities domiciled in Warri South LGA wish to bring to the notice of the Governor of Delta State the purported plan by the Olu of Itsekiri and the entire Itsekiri Nation to disrupt the ongoing Delineation exercise that has been initiated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On the 10th of July, 2024 at about 12:00am, Itsekiri youths tried burning down the INEC office located at swamp road in Warri South Local Government Area, but their mission was aborted by the swift intervention of the military.
More so; on Sunday the 14th of July, 2024, the Olu of Itsekiri in collaboration with the Nigerian Military entered Buluo-Ama community and other Ijaw communities in Warri South to lay false claims.
Your Excellency, it is worthy to bring to your notice that the said military molested our people the Ijaw people who are domiciled in Warri South but as peace loving people, we will not take laws into our hands but we will not fold our hands and watch the Itsekiris disrupt this peaceful process and we will vehemently resist every attempt aimed at disrupting the peaceful Delineation Exercise that is been done by INEC.
He who calls for equity must come with clean hands and if the Itsekiri Monarch and the entire Itsekiri Nation believe they are who they say they are, they should allow the INEC do what they have been directed by the apex court to do.
Most importantly, we are calling on security agencies to play by the rules and they should not be tools used by a particular ethnic group against the Ijaws of Warri. We also call on our youths to respect the rule of law and go about their daily activities because there is no cause for alarm.
