Ijaw Group Writes Tinubu On Toru-Ebe State Creation, Commends Tantita

A group operating under the auspices of Save Ijaw Nation (SIN) has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the need to specially consider creating Toru-Ebe State for the Ijaws.
The group also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewing Tantita’s contract and called for extension of the contract whenever it is time for renewal.
However, the open letter was written and signed by Comr. Yangaboy Erekedoumene Jonathan, National Convener, Save Ijaw Nation (SIN).
The letter reads below:

SUBJECT: DECLARATION OF TORU-EBE STATE AND VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED.
Your Excellency,
On behalf of Save Ijaw Nation (SIN), I bring warm greetings and reaffirm our support for your Renewed Hope agenda. We write on two urgent matters of national importance: the creation of Toru-Ebe State and the extension of the Tantita Security Services contract.
THE CASE FOR TORU-EBE STATE
The Ijaw people—numbering approximately 30 million—are the largest tribe in the South-South yet remain politically scattered across eight states. Only Bayelsa exists as an Ijaw-majority state, leaving the majority under-represented, under-developed, and culturally displaced.
Toru-Ebe State, comprising the aboriginal Ijaws of Ondo, Edo, and Delta, offers a corrective path. It honors our historic roots, secures political fairness, and unlocks economic opportunities for a people who contribute 70% of Nigeria’s crude oil yet see little return on that wealth. This proposal is not new—it is a just and strategic demand that awaits your bold endorsement.
COMMENDATION OF TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED (TSSNL)
We commend Your Excellency’s decision to entrust pipeline surveillance to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited in partnership with NNPCL. Under their watch, crude production has soared from 800,000 to nearly 2 million barrels per day, stabilizing our economy and restoring investor confidence.
Equally remarkable is the environmental turnaround. Once blackened by illegal refining and vandalism, our rivers now flow clear, the air is cleaner, and farmland is regenerating. Tantita’s approach blends smart security with social investment. They have rebuilt roads and security facilities, donated school buses, generators, and solar systems, and delivered vital medical outreach.
Their community engagement has resolved long-standing conflicts, fought drug abuse, and empowered over 30,000 youths with dignified employment. By redefining indigenous security as a force for development, Tantita has set a new national standard.
In light of these achievements, we respectfully urge the immediate renewal and expansion of the Tantita contract, to safeguard and deepen these gains.
