Delta South 2027: Mosco Johnny Backs Joel-Onowakpo For Second Term
High Chief Mosco Johnny, a prominent Niger Delta leader and Chairman of the oil-rich Okerenkoko Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, urging delegates and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South Senatorial District to support his return to the National Assembly for a second term.
Describing Senator Joel-Onowakpo as a tested, trusted, and result-oriented leader, Mosco Johnny said the lawmaker has distinguished himself through purposeful representation, quality legislative contributions, and unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Delta South.
According to him, the senator’s performance since assuming office has clearly shown that he possesses the experience, competence, and political maturity required to continue representing the district effectively at the highest level of lawmaking in the country.
He noted that Senator Joel-Onowakpo has become one of the most visible and respected voices from the South-South region in the Senate, particularly on issues relating to the Niger Delta, oil-producing communities, environmental challenges, economic development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure.
Mosco Johnny explained that the senator has continued to make meaningful contributions during legislative deliberations and national discussions, while also sponsoring and supporting bills and motions aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians and attracting development to Delta South Senatorial District.
“Senator Joel-Onowakpo has demonstrated uncommon commitment to service and leadership. His representation has brought pride and dignity to Delta South. He has shown that leadership is about service to the people, accessibility, and dedication to development,” he said.
The respected Gbaramatu leader further stated that one of the major qualities that distinguishes Senator Joel-Onowakpo from many political office holders is his closeness to the people and his willingness to engage directly with constituents across the district.
According to him, the senator has remained accessible to party leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women groups, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders, despite the demands of his office at the national level.
He stressed that Senator Joel-Onowakpo has consistently shown humility and respect for the people, adding that his leadership style has helped to promote unity, peace, and cooperation across the various ethnic nationalities that make up Delta South Senatorial District.
“Many politicians disappear after elections, but Senator Joel-Onowakpo has remained connected to the grassroots. He listens to the people, identifies with their struggles, and continues to work towards finding solutions to their problems. That is the kind of leadership Delta South needs,” Mosco Johnny added.
Speaking further, the Niger Delta leader commended the senator for his efforts in youth and women empowerment, noting that several people across the district have benefitted from educational support programmes, economic empowerment initiatives, skills acquisition opportunities, and other intervention programmes facilitated through his office.
He stated that the senator’s passion for human capital development and economic growth has continued to inspire confidence among young people and party faithfuls across the district.
Mosco Johnny also emphasized that Senator Joel-Onowakpo’s growing influence and strategic relationships within the National Assembly place him in a stronger position to attract more federal projects, development programmes, and economic opportunities to Delta South if given another term.
According to him, replacing a performing senator at a critical period when he is building seniority, influence, and stronger national networks would not serve the best interest of the district.
“This is the time for consolidation and continuity. Senator Joel-Onowakpo is already gaining the needed experience and influence in the Senate. Returning him for another term will help Delta South consolidate on the progress already made and position the district for greater opportunities at the national level,” he stated.
High Chief Mosco Johnny further described the senator as a loyal and committed APC leader who has continued to contribute significantly towards strengthening the party’s structure and unity across Delta South Senatorial District.
He called on APC delegates, stakeholders, youths, women, and party leaders across the eight local government areas of the district to remain united and work collectively towards ensuring the senator’s victory at the party primaries and the general election.
He stressed that the forthcoming elections should not be driven by sentiments or unnecessary political distractions, but by competence, performance, integrity, and the ability to deliver quality representation to the people.
“Delta South cannot afford to gamble with leadership at this critical time. Senator Joel-Onowakpo has proven himself as a dependable and effective representative of the people. He understands the challenges facing the district and has continued to provide strong and responsible leadership,” he said.
Mosco Johnny maintained that Senator Joel-Onowakpo remains the best candidate for the position, insisting that his re-election would guarantee continuity, stability, effective representation, and sustained development for the people of Delta South Senatorial District.
He concluded by urging APC delegates and party faithfuls to close ranks, remain focused, and support the senator’s return to the Red Chamber in order to sustain the gains already recorded and ensure greater progress for the district in the years ahead.
