Pondi Declares 2027 Re-election Bid in Burutu, Highlights Achievements

The Member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections, drawing widespread attention from political stakeholders and residents across the constituency.
The declaration ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Burutu, the administrative headquarters of Burutu Local Government Area, witnessed a significant turnout of supporters, party leaders, and influential figures from within and outside the local government area.
The event was particularly notable for the presence of prominent Ijaw political leaders, whose attendance underscored the strategic importance of the constituency in the political dynamics of Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
Also present at the gathering were elected officials, political appointees, youth organizations, community leaders, aspirants jostling for various political offices, and members of the business community, all of whom converged to show solidarity with the lawmaker.
In his address, Pondi expressed profound gratitude to the people of Burutu Federal Constituency for their unwavering support since the beginning of his political journey.
He recalled that his ambition to represent the constituency began in 2015, a move that eventually led to his electoral victories in 2016, 2019, and 2023, which he described as a reflection of the confidence the people have reposed in him.
Pondi, who currently serves as the pioneer Chairman of the House Committee on the South South Development Commission, highlighted his contributions at both the legislative and constituency levels.
Presenting what he described as an impressive scorecard, he asserted that his performance since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 remains unmatched in the history of the constituency.According to him, his efforts have translated into visible developments across the eleven wards that make up the local government area, touching various sectors and communities.
He noted that his approach to representation has been inclusive, ensuring that no part of the constituency is left out in the distribution of democratic dividends.
The federal lawmaker maintained that his work in the National Assembly is not yet complete, hence his decision to seek another mandate to continue serving the people.
He assured constituents that he remains committed to delivering quality representation and initiating policies that will improve their welfare and living conditions.
Pondi further pledged that he would not betray the trust placed in him, promising to intensify his efforts in addressing the needs of the people if re-elected.
