The Paramount Ruler of Obotebe in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, King Emmanuel Warewini Arikawei aka Etopo has promised to use his wealth of experience and resources at his disposal to position the kingdom towards attaining meaningful development.

Arikawei made the disclosure during an event organised to confer chieftaincy titles on some deserving sons and daughters of the kindom in Obetebe town on Saturday.

The Paramount ruler who noted that being a King is not just for the proceeds and benefits that are attached to the office but sacrifice and service to the people, said his reign as King shall be a bonus and not otherwise, stressing that he shall always and above all promote and engender submissions that will place the kingdom on the path of progress, peace and unity.

He remarked ” I did not become King to benefit the spoils and proceeds thereof but to sum up what I can give to better and develop the Kingdom, give the Kingdom a face lift, contribute to what Government can offer in terms of development so as to give the Kingdom it’s pride of place in the committee of Kingdoms. ”

The monarch shocked the crowd that gathered at the event when he announced that he has voted his monthly entitlements as King for the building of a Royal Palace and development of Obotebe Kingdom.

His words ” My salary as king, I will not touch or take but shall be used in addition with what I can contribute to build a Royal palace for the King. I am not interested in the salary as a King, it is for the Obotebe people”.

The Royal father decried the incessant case of over flooding which he said has become endemic in the coastal areas of the state but assured that such challenges will soon be a thing of the past.

He however commended Government’s resolve so far in some part of flood prone areas of the federation for its prompt and painstaking efforts to curb the menace of annual flooding by way of easing collateral damage and as such urged all hands to be on deck noting that, Government can’t do it all.

He also disclosed that ” heavy duty machines for dredging and excavation shall arrive Obotebe town to commence dredging and link her up with neighbouring communities so as to give face-lift and fast track development as well as ease the pains that comes with annual flooding”.

In his advise for the youths, the Obotebe monarch warned them against misconducts and vices capable of bringing the Kingdom to a disrepute and charged them to be worthy ambassadors and peacemakers from the Kingdom with pride.
